Donald has been officially confirmed as the Republican candidate for president.  Three major points in his favor (IMHO) are that he is not a lawyer'  he not a member of the DC establishment, nor is he politically correct.  Should be a fun ride to the election.

Delegates at the Republican National Convention have confirmed Donald Trump as the party's nominee for November's US presidential election.
Trump formally reached the threshold of 1237 delegates with votes cast by delegates from his home state of New York.
Trump's clinching votes were cast by his own son, Donald Trump Jr, who spoke for the New York delegation

The convention then broke into applause, as a band played Frank Sinatra's New York, New York, with the jumbotron in the Quicken Loans Arena displaying the words "Over the Top".
The final count of delegates' votes were: 1725 for Trump, 475 for Ted Cruz, 120 for John Kasich, 114 for Marco Rubio, 7 for Ben Carson, 3 for Jeb Bush and 2 for Rand Paul.
Trump told the audience via a video message that seeing his children throw him over the top to clinch the delegation was a memory "he would never forget".
