Saw a CRF 250cc Rally model in Krasang the other 'market day' at a Honda outlet (in a soi right next to the railway). Retail @ 160K the agent said just that day because of some promotional thing they had goings on, question is - are they any good? If so how do they measure up against the Kawasaki KLX 250? What is the price tag on the Kawa?

Hi 3legdog welcome to the forum. I'm no bike expert, but my son and I rented a couple of almost new Honda CRF's and rode the Mae Hong Son Loop up near Chiang Mai a couple of years back.
They where a real pleasure to ride, bags of power, and as I remember pretty fuel efficient.
I have no experiance of the KLX, but do own the smaller 150cc version. I know it's a different animal all together, but I am very pleased with it. I bought mine from a dealer nr Wat Klang? close to the early morning market in Buriram, they usualy have a good range of bikes for sale and are very good to deal with. There is also a new Kawasaki dealership on the opposite side of the road to Robinsons in Buriram. Took my bike there to get the carb cleaned as it was misfiring they told me the problem was because the chain was slack?? So don't have much confidence in them, but they do have a big showroom, so sales dept might be better. Good luck.

Just a couple of questions... Why do you want a CRF? Are you going off road? Is because you like the look of it?
Last December I bought a Honda 300 cbf. Great bike and only 130k.

I have been doing a few duties around mother-to-be-in-law's farm, that on nookie's newish 125cc Honda Scoopy Club 12, 2016 model. Her first scooter. I'ts not made for going around in rain and mud, slippery grass, flooded passages, buffalo dung, snakes, branches, stones, dodging kubota 2 wheel rice monsters along the way, dogs, ducks, etc . . . And it's absolutely no fun scraping muck of the white paint job plastics.
Also a bike to go exploring about Buriram and Surin will do me good. Nookie agreed to my freedom pact for now! thumbup
I never had a Honda offroad, had a 650 Kawa KLR back in the day, loved it! Got stolen by the way. My last bike was a Honda 'CB 1000 Project BIG One'. Now I need a rugged, dependable, easily maintained bike to last me the next 5 years at least.

Both good brands, I have no experience with these bikes but I bet they are good ones as well. You can definitely do more with a dual sports bike. I personally prefer Honda for reliability.
