The paragraphs below were written by a nurse who works with ventilators:
For those who insist on going out and about without regard to the consequences of catching the Covid-19, they need to understand what it means to be on a ventilator.
For starters, it's NOT an oxygen mask put over the mouth while the patient is comfortably lying down and reading magazines.
Ventilation for COVID-19 is a painful intubation that goes down your throat and stays there until you live or you die.
It is done under anaesthesia for 2 to 3 weeks without moving, often upside down, with a tube inserted from the mouth up to the trachea and allows you to breathe to the rhythm of the lung machine.
The patient can't talk or eat, or do anything naturally - the machine keeps you alive.
The discomfort and pain they feel from this means medical experts have to administer sedatives and painkillers to ensure tube tolerance for as long as the machine is needed. It's like being in an artificial coma.
After 20 days from this treatment, a young patient loses 40% muscle mass, and gets mouth or vocal cords trauma, as well as possible pulmonary or heart complications.
Add a tube into your stomach, either through your nose or skin for liquid food, a sticky bag around your butt to collect the diarrhea, a trolley to collect urine, an IV for fluids and meds, an A-line to monitor your BP that is completely dependent upon finely calculated med doses, teams of nurses, CRNA?s and MA?s to reposition your limbs every two hours and lying on a mat that circulates ice cold fluid to help bring down your 104 degree temp.
It is for this reason that old or already weak people can't withstand the treatment and die.

Many thanks halfaboy, you get the importance of the message. One of my daughters in Australia, is a very experienced nurse at a major NSW hospital. She is the head triage nurse, who sent me the article which I posted. I never knew what went on with this treatment, as it is the same for Thailand, as it is for the rest of the world.

I think all Australians know that no one is presently allowed out of Australia due to the government imposing strict Covid-19 travel bans.

Returning to Land of Smiles from Norway tomorrow.
Covid test taken proved negative and my doctor has issued fit to fly certificate.
Tomorrow morning have to visit thai embassy in oslo to get a "certificate of entry" and then hopefully can board the plane via Quatar.
Then waiting for us is 15 days "jail" in Bangkok with 2 more covid tests.
BUT --THE BEST IS YET TO COME :-)
My mother in law told my wife thoday that the local village boss had called for a town meeting.
He had been told by "government" that tourist coming to Tungwang/Satuek had to undergo an extra 1 or 2 weeks local quarantine....
They voted over it and luckily desided that 1 week was enough...

I'm not a Doctor but from what I've read the Covid Vaccine doesn't stop you getting Covid 19 or even stops you from becoming asymptomatic and passing it on to others . It just reduces the chances of getting seriously ill and reduces your chance of dying if you are in the vulnerable groups. As for younger people ( school children ) ,the chances of 'Dying' from the vaccine is greater than that of Covid 19 itself .
Again it's been reported that these cloth and paper masks do sweet FA to protect you unless its FFP3 rated .Weeks ago I doubted the use of a 5 baht masks being any good but still wear one when I'm out and about as its law.
As for the Delta Variant it seems far more infectious ( Why No One Is Sure If Delta Is Deadlier (https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2021/06/coronavirus-evolution-virulence/619301/)) .Just like Flu , Coronaviruses are constantly mutating .

This is a public forum. It is here for open discussion.
The makers of the vaccines have NEVER said that you cannot catch the virus after having been vaccinated. None of the makers have EVER said there will be no side effects.
The fact is that some people will have side effects and some will get the virus after having been vaccinated. The idea of the vaccine is to lesson the symptoms, lesson hospital visits or stays and, most importantly, to lower the death rate. That is happening and figures prove that.
If you wish to post anti vaccine videos and, possibly, propaganda then feel free to do so.
However, name calling and general spiteful remarks are just crass and not really helping.

Most online media is now either right or left ( the far right being anything the left doesn't like ) . I would no more get my daily news from the Epoch Times than I would from the UK's Guardian . But I would sooner watch the New GB News than the BBC or Sky and Fox News than CNN so you can guess my political leaning. Most news sites now are not reporting news but reporting propaganda that suits their owners political agenda .( CNN being a prime example )
As I have said before , everything is so polarized these ,Nobody debates a subject anymore , they just try and win brownie points by making digs or put downs and in many cases just dislike the person ,even if they say something factually correct . And if someone bites it makes it all the better for them

It's not a case of whether they were actors or liars. The point is, the video was posted as propaganda. Some people pleading hard done by because they caught Covid19 after being vaccinated and they believe they have some kind of rights. It's there to try to make people feel sorry for them when, in actual fact, there is nothing new.
As I mentioned before, the vaccine producers have NEVER stated that you will be totally immune to Covid19 following vaccination. The video wants to make you think that they have.
The idea of the vaccine, as I mentioned before, is to lessen the symptoms, lessen hospital admissions and lessen deaths.

I don't really understand the point of the video.
Right now Covid is under control. The lockdowns and the vaccine seem to have worked, don't they? I don't recall seeing the reports of mass deaths from vaccines as was predicted by some.
It's impossible to say we'd be in the same situation without lockdowns or vaccines, or both.

In order to put your ideas forward as "what we do know" you'd need facts. Without going back in time, not having lockdowns or vaccines and then seeing if Covid could be beaten, you can't prove what you say.
You have the flip side and the group trying to take the government to court because they did not do enough and family members died.
Why can't people just move on. It happened, looks like we've beaten it.
It's just like Brexit. Divided the country. People in UK saying the current cost of living crisis is down to Brexit. Others pointing to Covid and Putin.
Let's just roll our sleeves up, get on with life and ride the storm. Just like we used to and just like the lovely people we live amongst here in Thailand.
