Went to a nice beach and swimming area in northern Surin Province:

They have covered rafts you can rent for 500 baht and enjoy a day on the water. The will deliver food and drink to you, and there is jet skies pulling floats.
Go north on 219 crossing the river at Satuek continue on for about 10km, turn right at the light (2801). Go about another 20 km and turn left onto 4001(?) (I may have the number wrong here). And you should see signs for Lake Tungural

Depends on your definition of nearby.
From Buriram, yes, lots of Hotels.
From the Beach pictured meaning less than 15 minutes, I have little idea.
