Since Immigration matters are 99% for non Thais, whats the f.........g point of producing helpful literature written in Thai.

Ask the wife/girlfriend and she will say "I cannot tell you!"

Useless buggers!

What happens if the 2 monthly Buriram options do not co-incide with my 90 days? Back to square 1!

Will this service cover all the basic things, e.g. annual renewals of retirement visa, 90-days, re-entry permit, and in my case, transfer of visas from old to new passport?  Or is it just for the 90-days report?

Why? It saves the long trip to their office, there is a lot of money to be saved by doing the 90 days notification in Buriram/Surin.
Let's see their 1st visit and I will also go there to check how things are really working and will report to you.

I think its mainly for people on Marriage or retirement visa's for their yearly renewal to save a trip to Korat. Also things like letter of residency I would imagine or any queries that can't be explained over the phone . 90 day reports also but you would have to be very lucky  if the dates would match those on the list :),so the new postal service  or your normal procedure would be best for 90 day reports.!!
I went to Korat last week for my yearly marriage visa renewal and have to go back  the 11th of March ,so the 8th of March option in Surin suits me fine. thumbup

I shall probably be there on March 8th;  my 90-days is due on March 10th, and my annual visa renewal before March 31st, so it fits well for me.

I went to Korat yesterday (Tuesday) thanks to all the input a faultless journey. The lady who issued my visa stated that I could do my 90 day visit up to  15 days before due date and up to 7 days after due date and could use either Buriram, Surin, or Chong Chom, no mention of postal renewal though

Maybe misunderstanding or unwillingness to pay the fees. hahaha
I already posted my conversation and understanding based on Korat immigration instructions and I advice to first try do the 90 days report on the mail and see if it works, also, soon the Korat immigration will come to Buriram (Tuesday, 8/2/2011) so
I will clarify it with them to make things straight face2face.  reiki1

Immigration police mobile unit service at Buriram.
REPORT:

Hi all, wave1

I have been there today, the immigration staff are very friendly and helpful.

ALL Visa services are available (Visa extention,90 days notification report,Single/Multi entry, other visa kinds, etc.).

So I was very happy to see they came with a computer (Laptop) which I think connect to the main/korat immigration server where they can check people visa status.
In my case, my yearly visa renewal.

See picture guide below:
As you arrive to Buriram District office (Located on Jira road), Enter the building and go to the 2nd floor and turn Left there you will see the immigration staff.

Though this recently offered mobile service has become quite convenient to Buriram and Surin, I've heard rumours through the grapevine that the Surin service is likely to be discontinued.

Anyone know the scuttlebutt surrounding the future of the Surin mobile unit?

Thanks!

There is a post on another forum that states that the Surin visit has been stopped. I have not verified this, as my next scheduled visit is for Sept. 17th for 90 day report, but I will definitely confirm and report to this forum. For me, it's just as easy to go either way....Chong Chom or Surin, but I want the option if I can have it..

As for the reports of the Immigration office moving to Buriram, I have heard this as well, to be done in 2012, and I would also welcome this as Buriram is closer to me than Korat.

If your talking about 90 day reporting where you just fill in  TM47...you can do this 2 weeks before or 1 week after the date in your passport. This can be done on 8th November 2011. At Sri Narong conference room, Surin city hall if the days fit or at Chom Cheong at any time. You only have to go to Korat to renew you extension to say.The bi-monthly Immigration visits to Buriram and Surin finish in December ,the last one being in Buriram  :)

Reading this Topic with intrest as I am due to re-start the yearly extensions after an 18 months hiatus in Australia.

Called Korat Immigration yesterday to see what day in Febuary 2012 they would be visiting Buriram.

I was told that "No more Mobile service for Buriram" !!!!!

The Lady I spoke to had a good grasp of English and I doubt anything was lost in translation?

Anyone else heard of the discontinuation of this service ???

Ain't that a shame?
The good intended experiment wasn't working, I guess.

We are all highly indebted to Jetmickey for this information. What would we do without the likes of him?

I hear that Kap Chong office is re-opening

Some of us are stilled baffled as to the reasons that this [Kap Choeng] office closed - they were just refurbishing the whole complex and than shut the doors.

Hypothetically, would they chose to have two offices down there [Chong Chom & Kap Choeng], if the rumormill proved itself true?

The Chong Chom border crossing does not have a full service immigration office. The small office there is only for 90 day reporting. All other business has to be done in Korat. As for moving back to KC as of this pass November i would say that is a rumor. Last time I was in KC BUT times do change. My wife's family lives in KC and we do have interest there. I'm trying my best to get back down to the area. If they were to reopen the office in KC it would be great for us but bad for Korat.

Why "bad for Korat", gotlost?  It wouldn't hurt Korat at all, as they'd still have the office at Dan Kwian.  But I doubt whether it will happen.

Point taken. But Coffee Corner may miss out on some traffic from Surin. I thank I may be smelling a business opportunity coming up. pray1
