I was in Buriram P Mart this morning. Only customer. More than half of the freezers were empty and turned off
Many items for sale were heavily discounted and the few items I bought were further discounted at the cash desk, with the Manager overseeing things and all transactions being done on a calculator not the till
I asked him if they were closing but he assured me that was not the case, but they were awaiting new stock.
I somehow doubt that.
-
Went there last month and thought the same thing.
-
Most Thai Shops aren't known for their Stock Control Expertise ::)
-
Most of the empty freezers are for beef products. The beef in Pmart is imported. They often have time delays. They have not had any beef for about 2 months now. Their new stock will be arriving in about 2 weeks.
-
Would seem to be rather strange that around half of the freezers in P Mart are reserved for beef products, considering many Thais avoid eating beef products.
-
In the P mart in Roi et they had New Zealand lamb. The boxes however were marked in english " Not for human consumption"
There is hardly ever any cars in the car park so no idea how they continue in business.
-
Agree. Never seen it looking busy when passing. True of many Thai stores.
-
PMart do a lot of deliveries of bulk phone and online orders. I am in there often and there always seems to be a van being loaded up ready for a delivery.
Onetime I was in there and spent around 18000 baht. I was asked if I wanted a delivery service.
-
On a slightly different note, IQ house appears to not be doing well as many of the shelves are empty. Far less stock than usual. Wife asked the clerk if they were going out of business and clerk said no. I?m not so sure. There was no super discounted sale of remaining stock .....
-
Sorry to ask but can someone advise where P Mart is. I must have walked past it with my eyes closed
-
P-Mart is on the corner at the junction with the traffic lights when coming from the city drving towards HomePro / Big C / Makro

Thanks Mike

Regarding IQ, apparently they lease out half their warehouse and furniture shop. Those folks have moved but not IQ itself.
-
IQ is soon to have an indoor market. Based on the style that you see in a field by the side of the road in various locations.

As I suspected, and mentioned in my post of 1st August above, P Mart Buriram appears to have shut down,
Passed by this morning and all was dark and the doors padlocked shut.

Changed opening times,.
Previously 6am to 9pm.
Now 7am to 8pm.
The manager did say that they are downsizing. They are discontinuing some items that did not sell well.
It is possible that they may relocate to a smaller premises in the future but no plans just yet.

I went past at 10.40am and again at 11.20am today and both times they were closed and padlocked up.

They were open when we were in there.

They were open when we were in there.
Today? Yesterday? Last week? Last Month?
They were closed for sure this morning!
No way to run a business!

9:30 am today. I must admit there was a padlock on the door,as there often is, but it was locked only on to one side so the doors could open. We were not the only ones in there. Albeit the customers were not in abundance.

Noted -they were open then
On driving past twice, with no cars in the car park, lights out, doors shut and a padlock visible, it had all the appearances of being shut, Lost my business and I suspect that of many others,

I have to agree there,Nick.
I went past at 9am today. The dark windows and the open but visible padlock certainly make it look closed.
There were cars in the carpark today though.

In Buriram court tomorrow morning. May look in to P Mart later on way home.
