Seems more and more westerners are being subject to searches around Asoke and other areas:

I have been reading with some concern about what appears to be the increasing occurrence of spot urine testing of mainly Western males in the Thong Lor and Asoke areas of Bangkok, but did not personally know anyone that had been subjected to this until this week.

I have been reading these threads over the last few days. Concerning. Be careful out there.

True very true, but the problem is that some of the Embassies are very near to that area (wireless road) so sometimes it's very hard to avoid.

According to one corespondent, this always happens just before the start of the tourist season. Generally the people picked up will be Nigerians (no worries about PC thinking in Thailand) but they will check up on Farangs when their beer break is approaching. Legally you can contest a urine test and demand it be done in a neutral environment.Ha ha.
