All the traditional pizzas and very reasonable prices 110/125 Baht depending on your choice.
Nice place and Massimo and his wife are very nice people.
An all round fun place.

Wow, nice to see a place like this, I will definitely try his place when visit Buriram.
The Thai food prices are reasonably priced as well.
Interesting where he gets his ingredients, if locally or somewhere else, after all, he is an italian and the standards for good italian food are different. :)

Did that place not close/relocate about a year ago?
-
Nobby - you need to get out and about more in your own area -Isaan - instead of your frequent forays to sin city with nurses, teachers etc! thumbup
Muang Pizza did indeed relocate - just down the road and is now known as Muang Resort - a forum sponsor. http://www.muangresort-buriram.com/. An excellent hotel and restaurant. bravo1

Had lunch there yesterday. First impression -- very clean which is always a good start. Very tasty food, had spagbog, but a small moan -- " we do not have parmisan cheese because it is too expensive " doesn't do it. Your prices are very good so maybe charge 5 baht more and add the parmisan to your condiments basket, or even charge it as a seperate item for people who really want it. Will phone in advance next time we are in Buriram and try the lasagna.

Why not just take your own Parmesan cheese, don't see a problem with that!!

Why not just take your own Parmesan cheese, don't see a problem with that!!
Rather an idiotic answer!
How does anyone know that there will be no Parmesan cheese in an Italian restaurant? Rather like saying take your own chilli when going for a kwitiou!. Or worse still -take your own girl to Pattaya!

Also what's wrong with taking your own girl to Pattaya?

Nothing - if you enjoy taking coals to Newcastle.
I must admit that Pattaya is about the LAST place I would want to take my girl to...........

Well ItalianTony, I'd have had to have been there at least once to find out they had no parmesan now wouldn't I ? Yesterday was my first visit. Maybe next time I will take my own parmesan -- but then I'll probably be told I cannot consume my own food on their premises.

Where would you say is the best pizza in town?
In your OPINION.

Is there really a need for any bitchin on this thread! And how did references to a mucky side of Pattaya and low opinion of spouses get dragged into this thread? Not the first time and usually the same offender!
This resturant sounds great which can only be a plus for Buriram and how anybody can think ItalianTony's simple solution will cause offence is ridiculous.

Ill also add that it's the best pizza in town and I've tried them all.. Alan you will like it is a thin crust pitta style bread And is better than anything I've tasted here but hey this is My opinion and everyone has different tastes

In my OPINION only an idiot would give an OPINION on something that they had not personally tried - just MY opinion.

Why would he want Alan's opinion if he has tried it... Surely he would know himself.. Just a thought..

Why wont people like the Pizza mate ?
I hope I like it !
-
I like pizza - but unfortunately it does not like me!
Will have to try the other Italian dishes - but only when they provide Parmesan to top them off!
-
I went there yesterday. Had a few beers at the bar and ordered a pizza to take home, so tha I could share it with my daughter. The pizza was very good and good value for money.
The place itself was very clean. The staff and management were very polite and helpful.
I asked the owner about the parmesan situation. He actually said that the parmesan that is locally available was "expensive for the quality of the product", and he would rather not to use it. I myself, having used parmesan from Makro, would have to agree with him.
Anyway, good place, good people and a great place to eat and drink.
-
For an Italian restaurant to NOT make Parmesan available is one reason customers may not come back. As a food service operator with 40 years of successful operations, I don't think it's a good idea to furnish reasons for customers to NOT come back.
Perhaps someone who cares might suggest to this business that they focus on encouraging customers to come back.
Some of the good comments certainly encourage me to give them a try; but, the fact that they seem to discourage repeat business makes me wary that they may not last long enough to learn the lessons of experience.
-
Italian food and Parmesan go together.
Whilst it may be expensive for the locally available quality, it should be available, in my view, and appropriately charged for either in the item cost or as an extra if required.
-
His point was that he is dedicated to providing quality products. He would not want to jeopardise the quality.
He is currently trying to source some form somewhere else.
Not sure that he wont get repeat customers just for this reason.
Quote Nick " I Like pizza but it does not like me"
I spoke to my pizza last night and it said that it had nothing against you at all!!!!
-
Much relieved to hear that Starman.
-
I dont agree with Nick very often but re Parmesan I am with him and Bill.
It is better to provide a passable substitute than none at all. The 2 brands available at Makro. Are acceptable and no customer at Coffee Corner ever sent the Parmesan back.
-

Your original post happened as I was writing mine; and I certainly agree. If he believes the Parm @ Makro is worse than serving nothing at all, I would certainly agree with him. That would be giving customers reason to NOT come back. I'm sure he is diligently trying to find an acceptable product for his operation.
In the mean time; I think Italian Tony is correct (again) . . take your own.
-
I hope for the restaurants sake, that he is not just dependent on Buriram Expat Forum members for his business. We may all know now to take our own Parmesan, but the outside world will only find out there is no Parmesan upon commencing their meals!
Parmesan is as necessary to an Italian meal as gravy is to many British foods!
Anything is better than nothing, and if it really is that bad (which my recent purchase from Makro isn't), a small note on the menu that shipments of the real thing are due shortly, would suffice.....IN MY OPINION!!!
-
Furthermore.....................bring your own!
Where are we supposed to find some, if an Italian restaurant can't find anything decent?
-
Almost as bad as going to a Brit place and there are no beans for breakfast!!! wildman
-
I eat noodle soup and I love them crispy fried things you put in the soup there a bit like small square poppadoms ,one of the places we go does not have them have so my wife fry's a load up and we take or own .
Funny thing is every-one looks at us like they also want them ,but the shop owner doesnt catch on she could sell loads if she had them .
SO taking your own Parmesan cheese is not such a bad idea , even more so - MR BEAN style ;] take your own block of Parmesan and a Cheese grater , and really educate them in the art of fine foods .
Is the Spag- Boll pork of beef ?
-
Well, the parmesan issue has certainly opened up a can of worms -- hopefully not at the restaurant. The parmesan available at Macro comes in two types. There is an american brand - Schreiber which comes in a silver and blue container. It's price may attract you to buy it ( as I did ) but it is very weak and has very little taste. Damned if I can remeber the other brand but it comes in a small yellow shaker container and has a very good flavour. More expensive but worth the extra so I'll have to stop being a Cheap Charlie and pay for quality.....
-
Look in the fridge you can get imported from ITALY blocks of the real thing , that powder stuff is for None Italians ,its better than nothing but why not get the real deal its also very cheap .
-

Alan, I believe the item you like is called a crouton which basically is a small cube of fried bread.
-
:D
No its like a crisp but flat and square its name in Thai is ---- Giow-Tod , there yellow . thumbup

Kraft. But my Italian connection believes it's made only for non-Italians.

Yes they can be stuffed then they become a wan Tom .Also boiled . But back to topic noodle soup without these is like Spag Bol without Parmesan .
Thanks mate -:)

It's a bit like pizza company in Itany
These also are an OK cheap option , the big tub is very cheap .
Most people would be happy with these rather than nothing !

I think the Schreiber product was only 150 Baht lastg time I bought some - a "passable substitute".

I think the problem is the high standard compare Pizza from Italy to the one he can make here in Thailand.
I have spoken with many of our clients that are Italians and when the conversation came to food and Italian food in Thailand they always said its not the REAL Italian food as in Italy, maybe he should learn how to compromise and realise we are in Thailand and the standards can be different from Italy.
I also think the food quality is important but in Thailand its a market of prices so if the pizza is tasty and he sell cheaper/half of what other restaurants are selling Pizza in Buriram, no matter how people will talk down about his place MOST foreigners will be happy to go there with their wife and/or the Thai family to enjoy a low cost foreigner food.

Yes, the resident chef tells me it's egg noodle sheets rolled out and cut into triangles then deep fried -- very tasty

All said and done ( hopefully ) I will definately go back to the Roma restaurant because I liked the place and I liked the food. But even more pertinent is the fact my wife liked the food. She used to be a chef at a top-knotch Hi-So shark's fin restaurant in Bangkok for several years, cooking for the celeb's and the royal family. To be honest, I cringe when we go out to eat anywhere because of her culinery experience, so if she says she likes it that's a definate thumbs-up.
-
I was headed to my favorite Noddle place when I decided to verify Roma's location. It was 10am and I was surprised that it was open. I changed my plans and stopped to eat there.
Tried to order a pizza but they said the oven had to warm up and would take at least 15 minutes. So I ordered a club sandwich. I highly recommend it, it was probably the best club sandwich I have ever had, it took me by surprise.
And they provided a good serving of french fries, more than just the 8 fries you can get at a different place.
Best on the qualility of the club, I have high hope for the pizza they I will be trying.
-
I suppose a club sandwich doesn't require Parmesan!

Agree Mick. Took Mrs Somnat there last week. She was very impressed with the quality of her Pit Gang Moo.
She said she would be happy to go back there again.
I had a Pizza and Pasta. No surprises as I had eaten there the week before. Delicious and great value.
Not into Parmesan, so no complaints on that front from me :)
-
To all you whinging and whining about the ROMA not having Parmesan cheese.
Well went there for lunch today (Sat) and they now have Parmesan cheese so everyone should be happy.
But i suppose someone will find something else to moan about eventually.
bravo1 Massimo.
-
Whinging, whining and moaning it was NOT Tony.
They were perfectly valid comments, which have resulted in this seemingly fine establishment listening to its customers and would be customers and providing the missing item!
If the Thai people would speak out more in general about their grievances, Thailand would be a far better place for all. Too much "krengjai".

My OPINION absolutely, but one which I would imagine is shared by many others.
Pleased to hear that you enjoyed your lunch Tony. What did you have?
I wonder whether this restaurant would have had so much publicity had they not overlooked the Parmesan in the first place.
-
Bad publicity is good so they say lol

I had the spaghetti carbonara for starters followed by a spicy Bacon Pizza.
Washed down with two Chang Exports.
Very enjoyable indeed Nick.

Apparently so Toffo.

Went to Roma last night with the family this is becoming a regular venue now. The food was great.....my vegetarian pizza was spot as ever. No complaints from the family just empty plates!!!!!!
I would definatley recommend those who haven't been yet to pay a visit. Good food which is value for money, in a clean and airy setting, with attentive pleasant service. What more could you want?
Well Done Massimo.

It's certainly something to look forward to Nookie.

Had a take away last night from there and was impressed will call again in the future.Knocks spots of the Pizza place at Twikets and its by far cheaper. hungry1

I agree with everyone's recommendations about Roma Pizza. What a beaut little restaurant. Have been a couple of times recently, and is now my favourite little "chill out" cafe.
Had lunch and couple of coffees yesterday. Carbonara was aroy !! Place was a bit quiet, so Massimo had time to sit with me for a chat. He's a really nice interesting bloke to talk with, and his wife is charming also.
Cafe is spotless, bright and cheery decore, and the menu is very reasonably priced and good selection. English & Thai
Well done Massimo. I'll be back.
-
Big plus from me as well - the place hasa really good feel about. I cannot argue about previous comments about quality/value.
A couple of service issues but you can overlook those given the overall very positive impression.

THE ROMA BAR/RESTAURANT
The food in this restaurant just gets better and better.
The bar is pleasant and the staff are polite and helpful.
Simply the best bar/restaurant in town.
Well done Massimo service with a SMILE.

I'll have to pay the place another visit
Look forward to seeing you Mr Bear.

Buriram Roma Pizza serves excellent thin crust Pizza and I especially enjoy the Pork Lasagna. Very fair prices, and certainly a convenient location with easy parking between the two Buriram Hospitals.
I wish Mossimo and his wife Dtong all the success in the world.
-
Roma's provided the best club sandwich I have ever had. I was with high hopes I ordered a pizza.
Unfortunately I love deep dish Chicago/NY style pizza, I did not see that as an option.
But I will admit Roma's tries to provide the best of hand made ingrediants.
And for my Gun Buddy Paul, BE made some kind of change to their site such that spell check no longer works for my system. And I readily admit to being a math major that cannot spell.
-
Can't think of any other bar/restaurant that comes anywhere near the Roma.
Quality of food, and service second to none.
Also the prices are so reasonable.
Also T.V.showing all major sporting events including Thai football, and of course all Buriram United games home/away.
I think Massimo and Dtong are doing a great job,it a pleasure to visit the Roma bar. hungry1 party4
-
The Pizza's are very nice but for me the Lasagne is the best item on a well priced menu, but the best Pizza restaurant in town IMHO for comfort and decor is Muang Pizza but the prices are higher than those in the Roma but as they say you get what you pay for.
-

Yes but the question is do you visit a restaurant for the quality of the food or the decor of the restaurant.
For me it would be quality of food, and yes i have eaten in the Muang pizza but i prefer the Roma pizza, but that's only my opinion.
I know a lot of high society Thai people visit the Muang pizza so maybe they focus on a different class of clientele.
Anyway good luck to both restaurants.
-
Muang Pizza is air conditioned and has very comfortable seating. The owner works hard to please customers and the service has been great for me and my family at Muang Pizza. Very close to Book 'N Bed which is also a popular restaurant with excellent food and top notch service. Roma Pizza has a focus on thin crust Pizza and in my opinion more delicious pasta dishes. There is a "value" difference and good luck ordering certain lower cost Thai beers at Muang Pizza. Muang Pizza might have Thai food available more often than Roma Pizza has Thai food actually available. But my family does not go to any Pizza restaurant for Thai food. I wish both restaurants the best of luck, and perhaps they do serve different market segments. If I have family at either Buriram Hospital, it is an easy choice to dine at Roma Pizza. Monday however it would be Muang Pizza if we craved Pizza or pasta.
-
Happy to report that the Thai food availability problem at Roma Pizza as outlined by Pichai above, has been fully addressed and fixed thumbup
Family members of Dtong and Massimo have opened the shop right next door to Roma Pizza.
This shop. headed up by "Chaba" (Sister of Dtong) sells Thai food exclusively.
The two shops work hand in hand. So if you are in Roma Pizza and would like some Thai food you can order from the extensive Thai menu available there. Food will then be presented to your table in Roma Pizza hungry1
Excellent prices starting from just 40 Bht. Chaba has worked as a head Chef at the Rajabhat University and anyone who has eaten there will attest to the great quality and taste of the Thai food.
In my opinion, the best value restaurant in Buriram, just got better yeahme congrats
-
Sounds great Sommat.
Great idea from the Roma, now not only can you buy the best western food at the Roma, but also the best Thai food at the best prices.
Looks like the Roman Empire has returned.

Had the Lasagne at this restaurant yesterday, simply the best I have ever had.
The price was 100 Baht cheaper than other establishment I have visited in Buriram, absolutely amazing food.
If any of you have not been and tried this place give it a go, you wont be disappointed.
-
Have to agree with you Simon.
The food at Roma has been consistently outstanding since day one thumbup
And great value moneysmile
I believe that Massimo is able to create around 300 different pasta dishes love5
If its not on the menu, just ask :P
-
Yes Roma IS the pasta place to go,never had anything but top pasta, and pizza there.Massimo told me he can make a different Italian dish every day for a year!
-
Made a trip yesterday to Buriram & "Roma Pizza & Pasta" from the Lahansai area for one reason; to sample the wares at Roma.
As a Restaurant and Food Service Consultant, Food & Beverage Director, National Park resort General Manager and Food Safety Professional in the USA, it has been interesting to follow Roma in this thread; and I was not disappointed yesterday. Had a little difficulty understanding Massimo's English, but then, I have difficulty understanding Nookiebear. Other than that - absolutely delightful! Only regret - should have ordered some to take back to Nong Mee, in the Lahansai area. Great job, Massimo! Will be back!

There is no better pizza anywhere else around the Bururam area that I have heard of, maybe you know of such an establishment. hungry1

Yes the pizza is excellent, the only other one on par with Roma would have to be Muang Pizza, but noone beats Roma's pasta dishes.

Exactly! Nothing against you, Nookie. Errrrr . . . Noookie.
Actually, it's more an issue of not wearing my hearing aids. In some buildings or rooms, the echo & accoustics do not work in my favor. Hearing aids help a lot; but, they are a pain 90% of the time.
Our written communications have been perfect; except for my 'Merican' spelling, of course.

When I had it there was not enough tomato sauce. Plus my preference is Chicago style deep dish pizza.
But to each their own.

But to be fair Massimo is Italian and cooks the original Italian pizza, what you are talking about is an American deep pan version.
But to each their own as you say.

Even with two native English speakers employed at Ruangsangthai, the Buriram Sign makers take liberty with English Language Signs. Roma Pizza is a great restaurant with delicious food. It is the pizza I pay to have served complimentary at the Buriram Home Builders Expo event in 2014, 2015 and upcoming in April 2017. Many of the signs I read inside Home Depot in the United States were in Spanish. Mr. Pichai
