Wow, sounds like a bunch of new construction in that sleepy little town. First time I visited was around 1993 and there wasn't much there besides the bus station and small shops.

As I have mentioned before, it's on the cards that NangRong will at some point be upgraded to a province. Which neighbouring districts will be included and which ones will remain within Buriram province is not yet known.

If Nang Rong becomes a province, I wonder if it will have it's own immigration office?

I would imagine it would border Bunmak to the west, Cambodia to the south, Prasat to the east and Muang and ChamNi to the north. Lamplaimat probably too far north to be included.

Not known, but the courthouse on the Highway 24 is emblazoned with the title 'NANG RONG PROVINCIAL COURT'

Indeed the court is named as such. That court was finished during the Taksin era. He was the one that instigated NangRong becoming a province.

His heritage is the same as a very large percentage of the original NangRong community. The idea was to make it a province to be able to claim more money from central government.

The plan as slowed since his demise but is still alive. I remember there were three areas of Issan highlighted for this upgrade. Buengan was one, already now a province and separated fron NongKhai. Chunphae to split from KhonKaen is another and is likely the next to happen. NangRong is reported to be after that.

Any idea the size of the Tesco, is it Prasat size or Kao Yai size?

My wife much prefers the prices in Tesco to Big C, but the Surin Tesco was always a disappointment (not been in there for years).
