Title: TM30 - Notification of Aliens staying at a Thai House
Post by: buckwhelk on October 26, 2016, 09:13:36 PM
Has anyone (long stayers) had a problem with this at the newly opened Buriram Immigration office?

Wife was surprised with a 'fine' for this in early September at Kap Choeng.  Wasn't sure if it was tea money or a real deal; no receipt given, so . . . .

The Wife and I are off to the new Buriram Immigration office on Mon, to notify them of my arrival at the house.
As this will be our first time of doing this, any information on what we should take with us would be much appreciated.
Thank's

Is that the only reason you are going,Mahdam?

I have only ever heard of 2 people, from probably over 300, that have ever had a problem with this.

Like the rule, sometimes enforced and sometimes not, that "aliens" should report to their local police station once a year.

Most people seem not to bother.

Yes this will be the only reason to go. Never bothered before. Had the BIB around here once a couple of years back looking for me, but I was away in Vietnam at the time. They never left any instructions for me on my return, and have never heard from them since. Just thought we might be pushing our luck a bit, so decided to go this trip.

You may be setting yourself up.

The rule is that you must notify within 24 hours.

What permission of stay do you have?

If you have multi entry I would suggest you wait until your next entry.

If you are on a one year extension you could have a problem if you use the same address as a previous 90 day report.

I've read elsewhere that you need a copy of your wife's blue house book and a copy of her id card along with a copy of your passport & departure card.

Didn't arrive until yesterday 28th. Mon would be the earliest we could report. Am on a Non "O" Multi. Whilst here I will be in and out of the country at least three times during the next six months.

That's OK then.

Don't forget you must report every time you return from a trip.

Indeed.

I was using "you" in the plural, as a reply to Mahdam's use of "we".

OK. Went to Buriram Immigration this morning for the Wife to register me as staying in the house.
Entered office 09.00 on the dot, out again 09.09 all done and dusted. No money changed hands.
The wife enquired if she needed to report my arrival at the house every time I  get back from any short trips to neighboring countries that I will make over the next few months. He said  No.

Blue house book, wifes ID card, my  passport with departure card.
Wife filled in and signed a form supplied by them, they also did all the photocopying.
A very simple, and stress free experiance.

The boss lady went to immigration in Roi et to register my return, done and dusted in 20 mins.

Told that she has to re notify them every time I leave the country and re enter. I believe this is due to the fact that I have a new arrival card number each time.

However can do it on internet next time.

That was the idea that I had. IE..that the registration date should be that of, or near to, the departure card.

That makes perfect sense to me, and is how I would have expected it to be. TGWB obviously had a different experience.
I started to doubt if my wife had posed the question correctly, and quizzed her again on it this morning. She is adamant that she told him I would be leaving the country and not just be taking trips away from the house within Thailand. I think it just goes to prove that these guys are not all singing from the same Hymn sheet. I had a mate do it last week at KCI he had to supply his own photo copies, they wanted to know the name of his next of kin in the UK, his email address, and his blood group. And they asked him outright for an "administration fee" Has anyone else been asked for this? or is it KCI specific?

That was the idea that I had. IE..that the registration date should be that of, or near to, the departure card.
