The forecast for the next week or so looks a lot cooler than of recent times with rain forecast for every day!!Lets wait a see what actually happens
-
We've had rain here, south of Nong Ki, the last four days, very good rain yesterday. Not much rice here but the yams(tapioca) are powering on. Why is the rain so localised, one area gets it and 5 k's away gets fcuk all.

Just a nice soaker at moment. This is the day four of relief. Actually a lot of the farms have already sowed and some are staring to show results.

Does anybody know the current situation with regards to the price of farming land at the moment, Ie is it still rising in price?
Regards
-
Still on the rise.........the price depends on several factors.......ie Close to main road,Close to Village,Irrigation,Access

Yes on the rise, much of it to do with speculation on land prices and little to do with making money from agriculture. Illiterate Thai are signing documents that virtually forfeit their rights to their own land, a few hundred rai changed hands around here that way over the last year or so. We are a long way from any centre of commercial activity and I am wondering what mysterious plan is in the heads of the family that is doing this. Anyway, the days of the subsistence farmer seem to be numbered, my son in law is one of the youngest in the village to be surviving on rice farming and he is 45.

I know a lady trying to sell 9 Rai for 250K baht a rai. The land is 100 meters from blacktop, power, and water. Easily accessible by dirt road.
Unfortunately for her she borrowed money against her land and is not making payments. Eventually she will owe more than the land is worth.

The land will be taken away long before she owes anywhere near the value.
