Title: Buriram Immigration "NEW" office
Post by: Starman on October 02, 2018, 12:37:46 PM
There have been stories circulating recently about Buriram Immigration opening a new office near to Chang Arena. It is located behind the KFC there.

Initial reports were that it was going to be open for the duration of the MotoGP in order to assist the vast amount of expats expected to attend the event.

A friend of mine went in there yesterday. He was told by the sole officer there that this is actually a permanent office. It will be open Monday to Friday.

The "old" immigration office, the one at City Hall, will remain open. This office will be open all day from Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings.

So....it appears that after a long wait to get one office Buriram now has two.

I wonder whether each office will deal with specific things. Maybe the Chang Arena office will be just for 90 days.

Interesting ..... No mention of yearly extensions on the supplied link

"Foreign Service New Branch of Buriram Immigration At BURIRAM CASTLE AREA ( BEHIND KFC ) Foreign Service Re-entry permit into the kingdom. Notification of residence foreigners who living in Buriram over 90 days"

There is,however, a link to ONLINE 90 day reporting. Maybe someone who is due soon can give it a shot to see if it is working.

Personally, I have done one successful online report V's 3 failures  :(

Was in there this morning for 90 day report. Got there @ 9.35 am. Only one officer and no customers. I asked about doing one year extensions and the IO confirmed that I could extend my permission to stay for one year at the new office up to 45 days before my current permission to stay expires. I got the impression that this office would be permanent, but thats just my opinion.

I also tried an online 90 day report before going in person but couldn't get past the first page. I suspect that this is because I got a new passport in 2016 and have not left & re-entered the kingdom on my new passport, so I am not in the online 90 day reporting database.

Same here, was there this morning for also my 90 day report only 1 customer (me) and 1 officer (friendly older guy).

He asked me how I know about this office and I of course mentioned Buriram Expats ;)

Directions : If you are on the parking facing towards KFC, walk in the small "soi" on the left next to KFC and you will see the office to the right at the end of the "soi"

We will be returning to Buriram for a few months in early Jan.
Is this new office the one my Wife should use to register me at her address?

It's an additional office and seems you can use it of all requirements. Sounds like it would be worth going there first simply as not well known so currently very quiet.

I have done a Successful 90 day online report with Buriram Immigration in July.

I had confirmation back within 3 hours, haven't done one since then, but I suspect it's still working

I used the Chang Arena Office for renewal of my retirement extension yesterday. Arrived at 0930. Only customer and dealt with immediately. Excellent and friendly service.

Freddy, was your retirement renewal completed in 1 go?

I am due soon, and although I have used the sub office for 90 day reports andTM30's, I was going to go to the main office as I thought extensions had to be signed off by the "Boss"

Is the smiling chap chap with glasses still down there?

Yes, smiling chap was there.
Yes all was done in one go. I actually took all the copies of my passport pages which I was slow to get out of my bag. He just started copying my passport pages anyway and I had to stop him. Seems the main thing that he cared about was that the bank letter and bank book were correct and seemed infused about any other pre-completed forms. Mine was all in order so the whole lrocess was really easy ( easiest it's ever been) including a re-Entry permit. He's not the fastest but that's no problem as only once a year. Only one other guy came in for the hour I was there.

Just one thing to note. I had completed my TM7 but he gave me another to complete by hand. Said it proves your alive if hand written. So, don't bother with any pre-filled forms other than re-entry permit request and you only need 2 photos ( 1 if not doing the re-entry.

Went in today for 90 day report. Paperwork done in 2 mins and spent 5 minutes having a good natter with the IO on duty. Very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful chap. I plan to do my extension there next year.

It would be nice if retirees could apply for permanent residency. Maybe later.

Retirees can apply for permanent residency, if you qualify under the investment criteria.
