I just inquire for the price of a Thai/Thai divorce

- Sebastian H. Brousseau - Isaan Lawyers Korat 50,000 baht (duration 3 to 6 months)
- Thai Lawyer Nangrong 30,000 baht (3 months)

It's still not the same !

Not forgetting that Sebastian is not the lawyer in the company. He is an assistant to the Thai lawyers.

It will always be a Thai lawyer that has to do the legal work.

Very true, but he does know Thai Law inside out & doesn't speak 'pidgeon' English.

You are forgetting few things here.

1) Your lawyer in Buriram is not traveling. We are in Nakhon Ratchasima.
This needs probably 3 to 4 trips, go and come back, and transport.

2) Your lawyer in Buriram, if you need English, you not explain your everything, translate the decision, and probably has less experience.

3) a case like this is about 30 hours of work for us.

Now, there are law firms in Bangkok asking 10,000 baht per hour.
We ask about 2,000.
Your lawyer seems to ask 1,500 baht per hour.

Is it true that you can eat for 40 baht in a restaurant but it can also cost you 500 baht per person? Are all restaurants the same?

That's true for lawyers. The quality and services follow.
Glad you found someone and sincerely, we do have a lot of work.

Sebastian.

You have a nice firm and a beautiful website you have to pay this and your staff I understand. I don't need someone who talk English because it's not for me but for a thai couple, concern the other arguments I don't even want to argue about it !

I made the website so it cost nothing. This is not the subject.
I was talking about transportation mostly which has to be added to any lawyer outside the city. I also explained services and lawyers can have different prices and that's normal.
You are the client and you should decide.

Your Thai lawyer said 3 months and doesn't have to travel.

Well, you need to prepare documents, which is 2 weeks.
You need to give them to the court, delay of 8 weeks from the trial.
Judgment night not be given on same day and you have no guarantee. 2 other weeks?
Then you must wait 30 days after then judgment so there is no appeal.
And you go to the amphur to register it after the 30 days.

Thai people, when they tell you 5pm, it's sometimes 5:30, 6pm....
When I say 3 to 6 months, I know what I am talking about.95% chances it Will take 4 months.

Also, you had no information about common property and children. This can delay, be contested or add fees.

We did a divorce in court recently for 15,000 baht in Korat. Cheaper than your lawyer in Buriram. But we knew what we had to deal with.

Anyway, good luck.

I think it is bit like builders - you get what you pay for.

The client may not need an English speaking lawyer, so he just needs to decide whether he wants Thai standard (which may be acceptable to him) or Farang standard.

What is wrong with pigeon English? It is the local dialect spoken throughout Hawaii.
