Title: PCX or NMax or something else?
Post by: jbecker on December 28, 2018, 03:18:37 PM
Hello guys,

planning to buy a new motorbike or scooter beginning of next year. Just wondering what would be ideal for me and my lady?

I am hoping the model carries +100kg farang and 45kg lady smoothly. It should have abs brakes and enough "space" for two...

I am thinking between these two models Honda PCX or Yamaha NMax, not sure if their new models have abs or not...

Which one you recommend? Or this there anyother model you would think...

Oh, yes and my lady should be capable to handle it also safely...

thank you in advance for your kind responses

Hi,
in my opinion, if you do not care about the evaluation at the time of sale (honda sells better) take what you like more or what you drive best.
both have the version with abs, just ask the dealer.
Happy new year  party12

I have several friends with Honda PCX and all speak highly and have had no problems. All share with their wives/girlfriends who don't seem to have any difficulty riding them.
No experience of the Nmax.

Of course, if you don't mind spending a little more you may want to take a look at a Vespa. I've had one for a couple of years. The 150cc models go very well, are extremely nimble and easy to ride + nice to stand out a little from the sea of Hondas and Yamahas around you.

I recommend the 150 Honda Click.  I had a PCX but I it was just a touch too big for tooling around the village, however I would call it the Cadillac of the scooters, and good for longer trips.

The click is a touch bigger than the others (e.g. Scoopy, Fino, etc) so it is big enough for most of us.  Plus it would probably be easier for the Lady to drive, and has the floor pad that helps carry stuff.

My wife's complaint about our Yamaha Nuovo was the difficulty in moving it around the garage and the chaotic market bike parking not in riding it.  As the bike gets bigger the upper body strength required to move it around is much more of an issue than riding it.

I have a PCX and an NMax.

Both decent bikes but, on balance, I would take the Nmax.

Ok I havent owned a PCX but looked deeply into buy one and rented one on a few occasions and have had an NMax for the last year and a half, I really enjoy the NMax it rides and feels better(the PCX I rented was practically brand new) and hasnt missed a beat. Unfortunately, within the family, my stepdaughter got my old click 125 and my NMax went to my GF who rides it daily to the farm and back about a 26k ride and likes it very much.

I drove a PCX in Samui recently and loved it but as others have said it's a little bit too big for the village and especially my missus.

We bought a new 125 Click which is still a little big for the missus but manageable and drives very smooth with top speeds of over 100 KM/H.

Be careful where you buy as we were quoted 55K at the first shop and only 50K at the next.

Hi JB, I have a new PCX and have to say it is excellent. I am sure the Yamaha would be too, COCO thinks so.
It will just be down to your appreciation of their styling really. I am a shorty so seat height is always an issue in a panic, so take both off their main stands, straddle them and also get your Mrs to do it as well if she will ride it solo too. Compare their weights, though I guess there wont be much difference as this too can be an issue with someone small.
Whichever you choose, drive safely and wear a crash helmet as often as you can.
