Is there a aquarium in Burriram ?
Thanks guys -Alan..
-
Have a shop behind train station on the right side selling fishes and aquarium + all equipment and 1 more shop in the city in location I don't remember right now, (will get back to you later on today).
-
..other place is located on the same road as the CAT offices. Same side.
From the railway station facing the clock tower you will see the CAT building on the far right hand corner of that intersection. Go down that road about 70 mtrs. Seems to be quite well stocked and popular.
-
There is also a new shop on Jira Road now, coming from Tweekit going to town its on the left side
-
Are you looking for a TROPICAL fish shop that sell fish or a place to local Operated Aquarium Where you can look at Tropical FISH !!!!
-
Another kind of natural Aquarium many people in the villages grow fishes like this, just for fun and beauty. character3

Hello, I am new to the area and living near Cham Ni. Before I go off looking for the aforementioned fish shops, can anyone confirm that they are still open or have they ceased trading to save me wasting my time in going. I also see there have been no recent posts so just hoping that someone sees this soon.
Kind regards Bart newbie

There is decent tropical fish store next to Anuban Buriram School, from Jira Rd turn into the Walking St and at the next lights turn left, it will be on your right, just before the school. I buy my fish etc there, decent variety and decent prices.
-
Many thanks Geordie Boy for the quick info. I am after some filter media, the big sheets do you recall seeing any ??
-
Yes I buy them there, can't be confident on the price, bit they were around the 100 Baht a sheet. Just have a look around the shop, sure they are on the right at the back near the pumps and under gravel filters etc.
Will be going there on Friday, so will confirm later.
-
I have bought at that store also. However, overall I have found Buriram sadly lacking in not only fish but aquarium supplies. If you was a 1st class place I would recommend Korat. Ask and I will provide a map on where.
Kind of Thai funny, there are 2 Korat stores right next to each other, which is the Thai way of doing things.
That being said normally at the Klong Thom markets they will sell aquarium fish at good prices.
-
Thank you guys, very helpful replies and good to know that they do stock filtration media, thanks Geordie Boy. Yes Urleft if it is easy to do, then a map location would be excellent. Once again thank you.
-
No worries happy to help. Just one final word of advice, don't visit the shop at school drop off/pick up times as the road becomes 1 way and there will be nowhere to park,
-
Ok sound advice, with my memory I would forget where I had left the car wildman
-
If coming from the North on 2, you will see them on the left just before 2 goes westward. They are probably 150 meters south of the Big C. Both are nice but the southern most is twice as big as the other.
-
BTW, do not know if you are interested in Koi, but there is an out of the way place in Buriram that sells them.
Go west on the side street just south of Ice Furniture. About 50 meter before that side street that cuts to Tanee Road you will see a Curtain making store on the right. If you stand at the curtain store looking across the street you will see an alley (and you will probably also see the Koi sign). Last place on the left sells Koi.

you must be psychic Urleft, it is koi that I have. Luckily they are fairly small but I need to desperately get some filtration media as I am having to change the water far too often as the pump and empty filtration tank are blocking up with "gunk".
I am actually south west of the city and will come in on the 218 road.
Thanks for the maps, as I only know where Big C is they will help me out.
Once again many thanks for the 2 of you and your help.

Bart never tell Keith he is psychic,he's daft enough to believe you!!
-
Well Nookiebear he already knew that being psychic ha ha
-
TB......if your after filter media you may be better off going to Pichais builders merchants as he now stocks Zelbrite at around 895 baht a sack.
-
Thanks Freddy, will keep it in mind.

Here's some specific directions for you.
Continue on 218 past Big C, going past the 3rd light (the old circle). Continue on about 100 meters, turn left at the 1st road with the bicycle shop on the corner (ignore the gate entrances you pass)
Stay on that very narrow road until it ends, turn left and park. You should easily see the cutain shop I mentioned.
Here is an overhead view.
-
BTW, just noticed you can get goole street view in buriram:

Here are some pics, notice the Koi sign.

Wow, thanks again for your help.
Kind regards.
-
Probably easier to turn left just before the 3rd set of lights. Then turn first right (flower shop on the corner). The curtain shop is about 200 yards on the left.
-
I shopped at the wholesale shops in Bangkok, wow, what a selection. The market is open every day and is behind (attached to) the Chatuchak Weekend Market. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g293916-d450971-Reviews-Chatuchak_Weekend_Market-Bangkok.html

Thanks for all the info, got my wife a small concrete pond couple weeks ago, not knowing anything
about tropical fish didn't get any aerators or filters, and the water is as green as grass can hardly
see the fish, we got the fish from Lamplaimat, as we don't go to Lamplaimat very much, hence my
question for shop Buriram town. character3

I am going to assume you basically have Koi in the pond. You need a filtering system.
I would recommend going the Korat store specified, get a filter barrel, pump, activated charcoal, several layers of filter fiber (different types), and try that.
You are welcome to see my set up, just PM me.

Green water means way too much sun. move to a more shady position and add heaps of plants - good to shade the water even more and provide fish some shelter from the pesky long beaked birds. Drain the water and put new water in. I just put in tropical fish that are live breeders (guppy's, red swords, black molly's, they look after themselves and multiply by the hundreds. No need for a pump. I just drain all the fish poo onto the garden every 6 months. my ponds look great. I get my stuff at the fish shop near the night market.
p.s consider chicken wire to protect the fish from those bloody birds with the long beaks that hang around the buffallo!

Thanks for replys i must emphasize, small squiggly concrete pond 1m by 40cm, maybe the fish are different
coloured goldfish, not tropical fish, what do i know about fish, fish and chips that's about all, but my wife's happy
that's what counts, i will get something like a pan scrubber to clean some of the algae of the sides and change the
water. oldmanwithstick
