Title: Car Scammer
Post by: Tassie on June 12, 2018, 07:46:56 PM
I have just spent 4 days trying to buy a second hand car through Craig's List. After some investigation the man using the name Marcello Yves from France was selling a different car in Bangkok using the exact same wording he used for the car I was proposing to buy from Buriram.  He wanted me to send the money via Western Union.  There was a scam alert placed on the other car from Bangkok.
Please be aware that these scammers are alive and active.
I have alerted the Thai Police about this person.
Regards

Quite common both here and other countries Tassie.

Both cars and motorcycles.

Some interesting reading here (also a supposed French guy)

Not only Craig?s list. I was considering a used bike and went to a fairly reputable website. I contacted the guy and he added me to messenger. We talked for a while and he sent several photos. I thought I might be interested so I checked his Facebook page which was newly added. I asked a few specific questions about the bike. He answered quickly and correctly. Then I asked how the transportation office was to deal with in his area. He offered to do the transfer prior to me coming to see the bike. RED FLAG. I studied the photos and saw there was a couple of subtle differences amongst them. I questioned that and the guy blew up. I blocked him and reported the ad which was immediately removed.

Gotta be careful dealing online. This is the second time they tried to scam me this year. Thankfully I caught it. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn?t.
