Title: Where to buy hardware tools in Buriram?
Post by: Jon Terry on February 27, 2012, 12:44:20 AM
I am coming back to Thailand after this summer and want to do alot of work on my house, I have a constuction company back in the UK and have every tool for every job, but do not want to try and bring them with me.
Does anyone know where I can buy good tools in the Buriram area eg drylining/carpentry tools.
I have looked before but have always been disappointed with what is for sale.
Cheers
Jon

You can look at home mart and all the house material shops in Buriram city area (on the ring road  there is a good place to look at these things),, here also:

Jon Terry, I don't want to be a negativist but in my 9 years experience over here I've finally come to the conclusion to import all proper stuff from home.
Not once have I been really been satisfied with equipment I bought here. It is all the thai way : as cheap as possible, as often as necessary.
The grassmower I bought was okay but then the afterservice was lousy or inexistant.
So now I making up a list of thing I want to bring over and I'll rent a 20footer whatever the cost ... when you've got proper tools and equipment you'll be the winner, no aggravation about lousy and/or defective tools and more efficient work. I'll win in the end even at high transportation costs. Off course the next challenge will be to prevent my stuff to 'grow feet' !!!!

Hi Jon

Croc has just said what I was going to say in a PM to you.

When I came here 25 years ago, I packed 20 tea chests with virtually everything but the kitchen sink, and had it shipped to Bangkok. If you put everything in the wife's name, and label it as "Thai returning home", I believe there is no import tax payable.

Thai Watsadu is good, but in my opinion Do Home on the road between Dan Kwian (Immigration) and Korat is better.. Just 2/3 kms further on is a new Tesco Lotus hypermarket, so you can, if you time things right do everything together.

DeWalt is a brand name I know, trust and like working with.  I have been able to 'special order' several items via a local hardware store in Nang Rong and get the items in about a week to 10 days, but it is always a battle getting them to write it up.   Cost is higher than I like, but opposed to shipping from USA, it is cheaper.

This place seems to have at least a few usable things, I haven't been able to get there yet.
Just finding a decent shovel or spade is almost impossible as far as I can see; wheel barrows: forget it. If you supplied one to a Thai building crew they would go on strike or send for a monk. I have seen them carry sand 10 meters to the mixing trough instead of moving the trough to the sand heap..even on large building sites you don't see a concrete mixer, i would be a taker if anyone has one for sale.
I too plan on sending a load of tools and replacement handles over this summer and I know others that have done so. Carpentry tools like decent hand planes, wooden hammers and chisels will be in there also.

Sounds like the right advice Dundee, the feet thing is pretty true too, if they don't walk off on their own they will be borrowed and never returned.

Hi Nick,
I like your idea about Thai returning home, but if I was to take some of my older power tools etc would you have to pay tax anyway?

I swear by Dewalt,  in fact there is hardly a tool made by them that I don't have they are so good I just need to replace batteries rather than buy new tools, but I have never seen them in Thailand.
If I drop a dewalt tool from a scaffold, I do not get angry because it might be broken, I get mad because I have to climb down to get it!!

Stunner I reckon there will be plenty of trade for them.
When I first came to the village (Tabon Tapek) in 2003 it was proper poor and nothing going on, we were the Rich family cause we had a new Suzuki smash !!! If I saw a Farang pass through in a month I was lucky (or not).
Check the place out now it is booming everyone has new trucks and big homes going up everywhere, in my family alone the Kids are coming back from years of hustle in Bangkok and buying back family land and building their new homes back on the land of their ancestors, I know it ain't just my family doing this. Plus all the new generation farangs arriving every year.
This place needs tools !!!

Title: Re: Where to buy hardware tools in Buriram?
Post by: Jon Terry on February 27, 2012, 05:36:33 PM
Yep Boom town it is, but for how long ? I've been hearing rumours that the Thai economy has Ireland written all over it !!
Hope they are wrong as I don't think it would end well in Thailand if it went tits up, The Thai's are a little less understanding than us when we hit bad times, my income has practically halved in the past three years and I just dust myself off make sacrifices and get on with it.
But I think if you give a Thai a big new shiny truck, a business, nice home land and a temporary lift in cast/status. These are not things they will give up in a hurry and when lost they will never admit that they were strung along the gravy train like everyone else, they WILL want blood.
The Thai people will see it as being tricked, not that they did not realise that, if it's too good to be true it is too good to be true !!! We can tell them all about our sufferings and mistakes in the west but they want the good stuff, and we all know they will take it and ask questions later.

Most of us here cannot understood how the economy has held up as it has over the past years. Instead of collapsing, the baht seems stronger than ever, despite all successive governments perceived faults and the clashes between the various "coloured groups"

To keep on topic, all the hardware stores that are expanding throughout Thailand, must have investigated the economy before starting their expansions, so there is hope that all is not as is rumoured.

Even you Jon, must have some hopes for the future of the Thai economy if you are considering settling here permanently later this year.

Nick I really hope the Thai economy stays good forever as it will be where I finish up, but it is one place I would not want to be if it crashes.
My deep feelings on this is that the new world super powers India and China etc will keep the Thai economy strong with trade and shipping etc, so I don't really feel that in the long term Thailand has anything to worry about, plus all the rice it produces will be the new oil in the future.
But they need to be aware of the pitfalls of consumer culture.

Jon just dreaming the pound will go up this year ha ha.
Too right stunner it is so hard to save up for a similar visit like we used to make regularly strong batt and a weak pound is shite for us Thai/farangs in the UK.
What we send each month is today worth about 60% of the same amount  7,8 years ago. But we are luck that after all this time it has sunk into my inlaws that the world situation has caused this not our greed we send what we can and nothing less.
Title: Re: Where to buy hardware tools in Buriram?

Nick when did they start their research into the expansion?
It could of been before the warning signs flashed up.
But I think you are probably right and that  the research predictions will be correct for some years, many people will move back from the cities to the villages and back from other farang places, perhaps as a bolt hole from a collapsing world economy, there is always somewhere to make money in bad times, and it is usually where people feel safe. And that is with their families.

Genuine DeWALT, Makita, Bosch power tools are easy to buy in Buriram for a lower cost than the "chain stores" at a shop that gives a real discount on the price, accepts cash or credit cards, delivers for free, has trained staff for repairs on site, repairs at the store location or will ship the broken item to the appropriate authorized repair facility.  This small store has a higher volume of actual tool and water pump sales than any other store in Buriram.  You can see the NEW location which is sort of open, directly across the street from the Buriram Provincial Electricity Authority office.  That new large location is on the right hand side of Highway 2074, which is the same as Lak Mueang Road, just a few miles past the Buriram Private Hospital.  The current location is the store on Sunthon Thep Road where a two officer "Police Hat" is in front of a corner shop.  The owner will give you his mobile phone number, he has staff that can install and maintain water treatment systems, pool pumps, all for reasonable prices.  I've compared prices on specific models at Do Home, Global House, Thai Watsadu, IQ, HomeMart, Home Pro, Home Works and this shop has never been higher on the items I priced.  The owner can also advise you in person on what some repairs when the warranty runs out might cost on various brands, hence why he recommends certain name brands.   If you go in person, he has catalogs with enough English and he will write down a price for that model.  Global House would be a fantastic addition to the retail scene in Buriram, but Home Pro will just have untrained sales staff  with "interesting" sale prices.  Ask the English owner of ICE furniture where he buys his top end power tools.

if I could just find a robust one wheeled wheel barrow with inflatable tyre.
You can buy almost anything in Thailand as long as it has a machine attached. Simple stuff like hand tools, - a proper spade, digging fork or pick for instance, chisels...  I learned long ago that using a machine isn't always the best way.

The independent shop is named "Ruangsang Thai".  The male owner speaks very good English in person, and has a decent understanding of English. He is not afraid to use google images in working with a customer to find the exact product the Farang is trying to explain.  This shop is the wholesale location for many brands of power tools and water pumps for the smaller shops.  They do a thriving business in water supply installation and upkeep for villages and housing developments.
The mobile phone for the owner named "Phi Chai" is 089-844-9680.   Best to see him in person to obtain a written price quote and this shop is excellent on "after the sales" service without a run around or lame excuses.  I had not seen this shop stock "high end" hand tools, but I was not looking for such.  After seeing how Thai construction workers mistreated some hand tools I brought over from America I see no sense in better hand tools for the Thai workers we employ.  But I certainly understand why a handy expat would desire a proper hand tool that did not rust in one week.  I was first informed of this Buriram tool shop by the local carpenter we hired as he seemed to take care of the tools he owned.

Better photo of a free delivery from "Ruangsang Thai".  The staff of this shop seemed to inform my wife in Thai how various  purchases work and darn if she did not enjoy her made in England Bosch lawn mower.  Really not a crazy price for a power mower actually made in the UK sold in Thailand for a fair price.  But Makita also makes a decent line of electric mowers that come with real warranties.

DaveU:  My store has just received a brand new model of Marton Jumbo Heavy Duty wheel barrow with a single pnuematic front tire. I've put this new model of wheel barrow inside the front door of my Buriram Builders Merchants Store on Highway 2074 which is laocated directly across the Buriram-Phutthaisong Highway from the Buriram Provincial Electricity Authority.
To BillH52 and Jon Terry:  I'm proud to show that DeWALT power tools are sold at a discount at my Buriram Builders Merchants store and my eight full time tool and lawn mower repair staff perform authorized DeWALT Power Tool repairs, often the very same day, right here in Buriram.  No other hardware store can actually repair the DeWALT, Makita, Stanley, Bosch or Hitachi Power Tools they might sell.  My family owned store discounts and provides genuine repair service both during and after the warranty period. My shop is the only shop in Buriram Province that sells enough DeWALT Power tools to have two DeWALT bicycles for the hardware store staff to scoot about.

Today a couple of the made in the USA Briggs & Stratton 500 cc 17.5 HP four stroke petrol riding lawn mowers arrived in a wooden crates from Jackson Mississippi.  I was able to buy these direct from Briggs & Stratton official importer for Thailand and my Ruangsangthai Hardware repair staff are now the authorized repair station for all manner of Briggs & Stratton engines. This Troy Bilt seems like a good value in Thailand for those expats and Thai residents with large lawns.

I visited the Ruangsangthai store last week for various reasons, one of which was to see if they could repair my hammer chisel power tool. The drill still worked but the hammer feature didn't. 15 minutes later and at a very reasonable cost of 100 baht I was handed back my now fully functional tool. Impressed.

I'll have staff person verify what we have in stock or if we need to order this item. I look forward to your attendance at our Buriram House Building and Tool Expo event. Here is a photo of the new DeWALT bicycle (in front of the woman holding the long drill shaft) that will be one of the door prizes on October 14th.  You posting a photo of the Torx screws make it much easier for me or my staff to best understand what serves your needs.

Now that's what I call customer service. I have found references on the internet to the availability of Torx screws in Thailand, but nothing that I could get a hold of.
I imported a case of tools when I moved over here and chucked some screws in at the same time. I used up all my Torx screws fixing up stuff here at home, thinking I could go and buy some more. It was then that I discovered that whereas you can drill straight into tropical hard woods (at least with thinner screws) without pre-boring, that with the other screws available here, even with pre-boring, you strip off the inset of the screw head half the time, meaning that you have a screw that is jammed in place that you have to use pliers to remove. It is beyond my comprehension why you don't find them easily here.
Anyway: as a first order, countersunk screws, : a packet each of 12mm x2, 20mm x2,        30mm x 3, 40mm x 4, 50mm x 4 and 50mm x 5, 60mm x 4, 5 and 6, 80mm x 4 and 6. Stainless  isn't important. Good luck with finding them!

Thanks, yes ok if you just have a few screws but when you are talking about large quantities, I prefer Torx. The nature of the bit ensures that the inside of the screw inset doesn't get stripped, ever. Well worth the expense.

Davureborn: I was sidetracked today on some freight arrivals and visiting the house building sites of two customers who are building homes near Buriram. I assigned the Torx Screw hunt to a woman who sits at the front counter and she is calling every screw and fastener salesman we work with on Monday. This morning the new shipment of three made in the USA Troy Bilt Briggs & Stratton riding lawn mowers arrived and are in process of being displayed. I'm hoping to have more of the ride on grass mowers in stock by the October 14th Buriram Home Garden Expo. Staff is clearing out the back area of the store for the indoor event and new Expo show booths arrived today from Grundfos Water Pumps, Hitachi Tools, VG Rain Gutters and ANA brass valves.

Davureborn and BillH52: It is a changing world in Buriram when I can meet in past two days with three Solar Panel installation contractors, see a Puma air compressor, Zinsano Italian  Pressure Washer and two Honda Grass Cutters get delivered to the Chang International Circuit, see a 3rd riding lawn mower sold and picked up at my new Buriram Builders Merchants and introduce an experienced licensed architect to a British Expat building a home in a Buriram Province Village, but a young women can't seem to find a supply of wholesale Torx wood Screws. So Wednesday morning I'll have a woman who has more than a few fastener and screw salesmen in her rolodex see who stocks Torx Screws in Thailand.  Yes my 71 year old Mother who sits at the front desk of the original Ruangsangthai Hardware in downtown Buriram will be tasked with finding Torx screws.  She will be managing the original store on Tuesday and Wednesday October 14 and 15th when the Buriram Home Garden Tool Irrigation Expo and Sale is held at my "new" store on Highway 2074. In the past two days Teka Sinks, Netafin Irrigation, Schnider Electric, VRH stainless grab bars, Briggs & Stratton have also committed to demonstration booths inside Ruangsangthai for the Buriram Home Expo. If my Mother can find a quality screw and fastener wholesaler in Thailand who offers Torx screws the week will be a complete success.

This week VRH stainless steel bathroom and kitchen fittings have arrived at Buriram Ruangsangthai. A 12 year warranty on taps was a pleasant surprise for my staff. They are in disbelief over the 99 year warranty on the stainless 304 safety grab bars. A product you hope you do NOT need, but certainly might consider is how to rid your Buriram House or farm of birds who want to nest in places that cause danger and property damage.

Could be tricky trying to get a refund in 99 years time ... especially if the guy asks for a receipt of purchase

Receipt ??

Ummm ... sorry Jack ... my great grandfather bought these hand rails back in 2014 and was promised a 99 year warranty

I wish as a business owner who serves the public, that more companies would stand by and guarantee house building products sold in Buriram. It is a matter of personal pride that I seek out and stock major brands that will in fact supply my store and my customers, both Thai and Expats with spare parts and actual service during the warranty period. I have made it a point for any salesman to use his phone and show me photos taken that day by his co-workers of the office, warehouse, repair center and PARTS DEPOT of any new brand that approaches Ruangsangthai. They all seem to have the APP "Line" and can in a few minutes show me if they are "real" with spare parts or just a "marketing company".  Now VRH is the "real deal" with a sterling reputation since being founded in 1972. While TEKA of Germany offers a 75 year warranty on new stainless steel sinks, I am going to also place my trust also in VRH to honor the 99 year warranty. The "P.C." who is the VRH salesperson on the VRH payroll stationed inside of Ruangsangthai will assist my customers with any warranty replacements and you can see me at my open desk if you get sort of a "run around" on any return, refund, or replacement on ANY product in my store. Isaan House Building materials retail merchants have a negative reputation on the handling of returns or replacements and I wish to model my refund policy on Costco, Home Depot or Lowe's.  You can see the history of VRH fittings on this youtube video in English. Receipts can fade over time, but memories of which store owners treat you and your family fairly will remain intact.

Makita Power Tools and Maktec Power Tools will be joined by Milwaukee Power Tools, Jupiter Power Tools, DeWALT Power Tools, Stanley Tools, and Hitachi Power Tools at the February 13 through February 17 "Buriram Open Day" held inside Ruangsangthai and in a very large tent in the front parking lot on Highway 2074. Jet Tools will bring in additional wood working tools for the Buriram Home Expo. Several brands of air compressors will be on show and sold for special prices during the Buriram Home show. Perhaps you could limit the adult beverages prior to operating power tools at this Expo held at my family owned Builders Merchants.  Thank you: Mr. Pichai

Tommynew: If you do get a chance to visit my builders merchants store in Buriram either during the 5 day Expo or on any day of the week, please bring over any name brand power tools or lawn mowers or brush cutters that might need minor or major servicing. If the parts are in stock it is often very possible for a two hour repair turn around time in the tool repair department.  During the 5 day Expo you can enjoy free Pizza prepared on site by Mossimo and his wife Dtong or free Thai food prepared by the Thai staff of Jack's resort.

The Managing Director of the Hitachi Koki Tool Corporation was in Buriram today and yesterday. He spent real time at my store discussing the repair service center and availability of new Hitachi models for Buriram. He speaks English as well as Japanese. Mr. Kazumi Hoida assured me and my tool department manager than Hitachi will send any power tool or garden tool that Hitachi has in Thailand to Ruangsangthai. He also indicated that three models would be at the Buriram Home Expo and he is a man of his word. Kwai Thong and Auto Mac Tools were offering good warranty periods and booth technical staff who can speak English during the Expo.

Sunday the managing director of the largest importer of DeWALT and Stanley Tools visited Ruangsangthai during the Buriram Home Expo. He has ordered Ruangsangthai a new Stanley hand tools display for an expanded selection of Stanley hand tools including the FatMax tools that are imported to Thailand. I told him the DeWALT table saw was quite costly compared to the wood shop tools I offer from Jet Tools.

Thank you to all the Buriram Expats Forum members who have visited my family store and made comments on this forum. I wish to announce that all eight of my ready mix concrete trucks are booked solid for the next three days for deliveries to the brand new Toyota Auto and Toyota Truck Dealership that is being built one kilometer from Ruangsangthai on Highway 2074 heading towards Phutthaisong. I have eight sober Buriram store staff working to build new retail displays for LED lighting and Q-Con autoclaved wall blocks and door lintels during the 2015 Songkran Festival period. The store is not open today, but will re-open on Thursday morning April 16 at 8:30am.  Normal building materials deliveries and normal ready mix deliveries will commence again on Thursday April 16th.  Normal water pump installations and plumbing repair services for Buriram will resume on April 16, 2015.

Due to the increase in English speaking expats who have elected to drive out of their way to my family owned builders merchant store in Buriram, I have recently hired two more Americans to help serve the Buriram expat community. Mr. Nop is a Thai citizen who moved to California when he was in grade school. He has served in the United States Navy, and understands and speaks both Thai and English. I've hired an experienced English teacher, Mr. Moses, who is a California born US citizen born of  Mexican American parents who speaks English and Spanish. I am sending Miss Jang to Bangkok to learn more about swimming pool equipment sales and poor chemical sales. I sent Mr. Bob to Bangkok for a weekend in May to learn more about Honda lawn mowers, generators, brush cutters at the Honda Power Products Seminar. I've had our 145 team members put more effort into cleaning the store and to strive for better delivery experiences. I can now offer native English speakers on duty 7 days a week to assist the valued customers of Ruangsangthai. I do now have a uniformed security guard to check receipts as some Makita Tools had to be recovered from a Buriram Pawn Shop last month.

You know what? I took my wife to the last display of tools in April and she came away convinced that the only reason that I go there is because of the girls as shown in the fotos above.
I am virtually forbidden from spending more than 10 minutes in the place and my visit today resulted in much pouting. She is a great girl but jealousy (she talks about knives and ducks) is a part of her.
I met Mr, Nop, nice guy, good luck to him.
I also noticed the pepped up security, pity that that is necessary, I had to search for my ฿160 receipt.

Thai Seng Trading Co. Ltd which has the exclusive importing rights to Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam for all Makita Tools sent two Japanese executives to Ruangsangthai in Buriram to present new Makita Garden products and new Makita power Tools for me to consider. The Thai speaking training manager spent several hours in my Buriram classroom to better train my sales floor staff in the features and value of Makita and Maktec Tools. Mr. Pitsanu Chanaya the manager of Thai Seng Trading Company agreed to host four of the Ruangsangthai tool service  staff for extensive repair training in Bangkok in August.  I also requested that Mr. Yuto Saito consider sending the current Miss Makita to our store in Buriram to assist expats in the proper sizing of bush cutters.  In the photo you can see Miss Wilawan Sararam who is bilingual and the Buriram repair service department manager. She is very proud to post the Makita Certificate of Authorized Service Point signed by Mr. Yoshiharu Nishiguchi the President of Thai Seng Trading Company Ltd.

S.P.E. the #1 importer of DeWALT Power Tools, Stanley Power Tools and Stanley hand tools in Thailand, has given my hardware store some exclusive Stanley hand tools to offer home builders and D.I.Y. customers in Buriram Province. While made in Taiwan might not always have been a sign of quality in years past it is something to consider in 2015 when comparing hammers in Buriram. The woman employee in the photo is one of the Mother, Daughter teams of cleaning women at the store, not the Stanley Tools employee who can order any Stanley or DeWALT Tool that is currently imported into Thailand by S.P.E.  There are in fact DeWALT Power tools at Ruangsangthai that are made in Europe, Stanley measuring Tools made in the United States, Milwaukee Power Tools made in Germany, Makita Tools made in Thailand or Japan, and Bosch Tools made in the P.R.C.  My welding team when not making work benches for customers are adding a roof enclosure to the North end of the store for better storage of water tanks and portable concrete mixers. Miss Wilawan Sararam has convinced me to expand the under roof cover area of the tool and lawn mower repair department at the front of the store.  Three Makita Power Tools I sold to a local Buriram house builder are getting a real workout on a job site North of Buriram City in a village. The Makita 5402 Circular saw is cutting a good portion of the wood supports for the 2nd floor of this Buriram Village building project which I am supplying 100% of the basic building materials including concrete, steel, PVC, cement, roof tile.

I noted an aluminum ladder and blue steel scaffolding were in use at a Buriram Village House building site I visited this morning. 100% of the building materials and 100% of the power tools at this home building project were sourced and delivered from Ruangsangthai to the local Buriram home building contractor wearing the dark blue shirt up on the wooden forms. Most often bamboo ladders are used at the Buriram home building construction projects I visit to see local Thai house builders.

Last time I looked for a ladder, Rueagsongthai had only one 12 (maybe 14) metre two part ladder and those horrible steps that are too steep and too narrow for stability. also it is impossible to use them in a normal fashion without bruising your shins. I bought a 5 metre bamboo ladder for ฿300. at the roadside
Sorry about this, but when I want building materials I buy them early in the morning, no native English speakers about then.

Dave: I understand your concern about my previously tardy native English speaker from California. I can assure you that Mr. Nop, Mr. Moses and Mr. Bob are now clocking in at 8:30am on a daily basis.  If you have any customer service issues please come to my desk and speak to me personally and I will resolve the issue. I had staff take photos today with several taller aluminum ladders that I keep in stock at Ruangsangthai at the main builders merchants store on the Buriram Putthaisong Highway 2074 location front display showcase.  These are moderate cost, but factory made, aluminum ladders that can hold the weight of most any Thai home builder.  I have met with "Little Giant" and Werner Ladder importers regarding fiberglass ladder options.  The cost for our store in Buriram Thailand to buy these two brands at wholesale cost seemed too high for the general Buriram home owner or home builder to pay.  If you would like a stronger ladder that is made in a factory other than a Chinese Factory I very much value your suggestions. Bamboo Ladders if treated for termites and perhaps reinforced with suitable wire have proven suitable for T.O.T. and 3BB internet installation teams in Buriram. You may phone my mobile number 089-844-9680 if you have any customer service questions or need help with product questions. 7 days a week a native English speaker will be able to answer questions at my store if you dial 044-666-484 and press 108 for English.

I may not have a printed sign for "Big Bike Parking" and the parking lot staff do not have a sectioned off VIP area at Ruangsangthai. Any motorcycle is welcome and it is first come first served on covered parking spaces unlike a new shopping Mall in Buriram. I can 100% assure you that every I-Weld price and EVERY Zinsano High Pressure washer everyday price at Ruangsangthai is lower that the Grand Opening Sale price of a fine a/c department store. Even my normal discount price on the Super Lock food storage container sets is lower than the sale prices of the home wares department of Robinson Store in Buriram. The most shocking Buriram prices to me were for Solo Brand pad locks and Solex Brand padlocks. You would think the prices were for Mul T Lock padlocks or Medeco High Security Padlocks.  I realize how that a/c bill is getting paid by margin on the padlocks.

While my Buriram Tool shop stocks some socket sets manufactured by Stanley, ACT, Fixman and King Tony you would not confuse these with Mac Tools or Snap On Tools. Auto Mac Power Tools sold in Thailand have no relationship with Mac Tools.  In Buriram some of the Auto Parts Stores do stock automotive tools. There is a fine family owned competitor straight down Highway 2074 heading into Buriram from Ruangsangthai on the left side 1 1/2 blocks from the railroad tracks that has a wider selection of auto mechanics tools than I stock.  This store is just past a Dentist | Medical clinic and always has welding gas tanks in front of the store.  I did place a firm order with the Stanley Tools importer for several models of hand planers. I'll post photos when they arrive at our store. I am always open to suggestions of special order tools that more than one customer will buy.  The response to quality Stanley hand Planers at a fair price as been well received. Significantly easier to find that TORX screws in Thailand.

- Hazet
- Stahlwille
- Gedore
- Fluke

Thank you again.

We have aluminum sliding glass doors in two sizes in stock and two colors. We have quality, yet affordable UPVC sliding glass doors which include insect screens in stock in 3 colors and two sizes.  We also are the Buriram dealer for custom size high grade UPVC windows and doors that are measured by a Bangkok trained team, made to order in a proper modern fabrication plant in Buriram and installed by the team.  They come in white profiles with several options of glass including tempured glass.  See me or Mr. Moses or Mr. Bob about sliding windows the next time you visit my store in Buriram. We do have two sets of UPVC sliding doors on display in the store so you can see the fit and finish.  Prices really vary depending on what you select, but brand to brand, model to model, we are 10% less than Thai Watsadu on an identical National brand.  The standard aluminum are very modest in cost.  Size matters so best you come in person to see the fit and finish and decide what is best for your needs and your allocation of funds.  These are not Sun Paradise prices.

UPVC sliding doors all come with some standard lock. Some come with a multi point lock. You could choose to not use the lock and only an inside latch. There are six different UPVC sliding glass door options currently in stock at Ruangsangthai. Color of the glass, color of the profile, size of the actual doors all determine the price. If you or your builder come to the store I have of course Thai speaking staff and I am the only store in Buriram to employ native English speaking staff to assist customers. No one will have lower prices for made in Thailand UPVC doors and windows. You might find made in China doors and windows for less money but there will be NO factory support or dealer support for adjustments with made in China windows or doors. I have passed on stocking any doors or windows that are made in China.  I have several brands of sand filters installed for use in Buriram swimming pools, Buriram Spas or Buriram fish ponds. I also stock genuine Zelbrite sand filter media.

The Stanley Tools sales manager for Thailand has told me that three models of Stanley Hand Planners will arrive at Ruangsangthai Hardware Store on Tuesday this week. I'll have them discounted and up on the Stanley Tools woodworking tools display area by Wednesday morning if not sooner. Here is a better photo of the Briggs & Stratton Series 500 self propelled lawn mower I am able to sell at 9000 baht since it was a two week old trade in where the expat bought a larger wheel grass mower.  The Briggs & Stratton engine was made in the United States while the body was made in the same country as Apple iPhone models. I warranty this lawn mower for 18 months with repairs done at my lawn mower repair service center and blade sharpening shop on Highway 2074 in Buriram, Thailand.

A better set of photos of the "trade in" Makita PLM4611 self propelled lawn mower with the Briggs & Stratton 190cc 4 stroke engine.  I am happy to consider trade in transactions of name brand lawn mowers when you upgrade to a different size new lawn mower or a new riding lawn mower if the original lawn mower was bought at either location in Buriram, Thailand of Ruangsangthai . I have also done trades in considerations for name brand chain saws that were bought in Bangkok or Europe or Australia or Canada for newer Kanto chain saws I sell.  It has been my Buriram repair department managers observation that expats generally come back for regular maintenance service and will change oil and filters on lawn mowers, chain saws and brush cutters on a timely basis.

Stanley hand Planers are now is stock at Ruangsangthai.  A shipment of genuine Stanley woodworking hand planers arrived today at my store on Highway 2074. I discount these well made Stanley G 12 006 large hand planer | the Stanley Baily 12-004 planer and the No 4 Stanley 1-12-204 Planer.  These are not disposable tools.

Ok, you can stop writing about the great Torx screws affair. I have shown Thais how you can screw directly into hard tropical woods without preboring and they still don't believe it, I recently went so far as to throw a handful of Thaiwasadu supplied screws away in front of a worker (lost in the grass now) and did eventually get him to use Torx screws. A lost cause in Thailand, and a lot of other countries also. I don't regret having ordered them from Switzerland, expensive as it was.

Weight is getting very close already; what size are you wanting?  Had planned on bringing some of my 18V Dewalt tools (minus the batteries), but, might not be able to squeeze them in; thinking about re-organizing the carry-ons so more non-cabin stuff can be in checked.

Saturday a full truck load of Makita and Maktec Tools arrived at my tool shop in Buriram. While I do not currently have every single model of Makita Tools that has been imported into Thailand,  I have deep stock of every popular selling Makita or Maktec Power Tool at my main store on the Buriram - Phuthaisong Highway 2074.  I will gladly special order any Makita or Maktec Tool that is "on the ground" in Thailand for Buriram tool customers. I do in fact have in stock every model of Maktec Tools or Makita Tools that are manufactured in the Makita Tool assembly plant located in Thailand.

Bob & Mr Pichai,
Last year there was a request and subsequent hunt for Torx Screws. Do you stock them now?

That was me. We did find a firm claiming to supply Torx screws in Bangkok but they then demanded a minimum order of 50 000 per size I believe and we had no information regarding steel quality so eventually I ordered directly from Switzerland, http://torxschrauben.ch/1331.html
That was expensive.
I never regretted stocking up with Torx but I do regret losing the bloody bits occasionally.

Blimey, 50,000 might be a tad over the top.

Torx Screws come in so many styles that for a family owned hardware store in 2014 it was a steep uphill battle to be able to order and stock the amount of Torx screws that I could sell in one year. However, one of our primary suppliers of screws, nuts and bolts in Thailand has updated their web page in 2016. If any Buriram House Builders or Buriram Home Owners search and find the exact products from SJ Screw Thai and bring me the product listing I am delighted to order from this established supplier. The custom made to order screw orders have a 50,000 baht minimum, yet if they have the product in stock I can make it part of my bi weekly order from Screw Thai.

Today an order of high quality metal electrical fittings came into Ruangsangthai  Buriram home improvement store. The expat who took the time to list exactly what metal electrical conduit and fittings he needed for a modest Surin Village home sent Mr. Bob a list and the order took three days from advance payment to arrival in Buriram. I will gladly supply ABSO electrical fittings for Buriram home builders who list exactly what items they desire and pay in advance. There were zero back orders on this 23,000 baht order of electrical fittings. Only a small portion show in the attached photo.     Now Ruangsangthai represents ABSO electrical  products which range from Hot-Dip Galvanized Conduit,
Hot-Dip Galvanized Fitting Accessories,Aluminium Fitting Accessories. I proudly supply these materials throughout those ongoing construction projects such as hotels, resorts, custom homes, factories, medical clinics, hospitals,Industrial Buildings in Buriram and Surin Province. I am proud to supply premium quality hot-dip galvanized products to Isaan home builders.

Please feel free to pick screws that this company has in stock, so I can place an order for you. It does not need to be more than three boxes, if it is already in stock at the screw company. I'll pass on custom orders of screws. http://www.screwthai.com/product.php (http://www.screwthai.com/product.php)

Saturday a full truck of Makita power tools and Maktec power tools arrived at Ruangsangthai. Next Tuesday a shipment of 150 kg capacity aluminum and fiberglass ladders arrive for the very first time at my family owned Buriram Hardware Store. I was impressed with the selection of sturdy ladders sold at the New Jersey Home Depot I visited last month. I contacted or met with Ridgid Ladder, Werner Ladder, Little Giant Ladder, Louisville Ladder, and Sanki Ladder.  The ladders will have a Type 1A rating for safety as many expats need a sturdy ladder that is for for 330 lbs.  There are currently no ladders of the same brand and  Type 1A rating sold at the Buriram Thai Watsadu, Buriram Home Mart, Buriram Home Mega mart, Buriram IQ House. Thank you Mr. Pichai

Stanley Black & Decker DeWALT Tool company have sent three representatives this week to Ruangsangthai in Buriram to demonstrate the most current models of DeWALT Power Tools and Stanley Tools that are imported to Thailand. I passed on Black & Decker.  They are offering some very attractive price promotions along with typical free add on items on each sale of DeWALT or Stanley Power tools. One of the men and one of the women who work for the Stanley Black & Decker DeWALT Tools importer do speak and understand English as well as Thai. Miss Nan, in the blue shirt, stopped by the Stanley Tools booth outside the front door of Ruangsangthai as she met a translation services client for a visit to several Thai Government offices, Water and Electric utility offices and two Buriram banks on Tuesday.

DeWALT and Stanley Tools have sent two representatives from Bangkok  with some new models (for Thailand, not the 60V sold in Europe or North America) of power tools and Colt Welders to my family owned Tool shop in Buriram. Miss Jaew can help translate along with Miss Gift if the DeWALT Staff are unclear of your technical tool questions in Buriram. The Stanley Tools on display inside and in front of Ruangsangthai include some better quality hand tools including hand wood planers made in England.  This Tool sale show booth open day event will continue through June 8th. Thank you for your support and I will continue to bring name brand tools to Buriram to assist house builders and home owners.
