Muangthong Utd 0-2 Buriram Utd
New boy Ramses Bustos stole the show scoring twice to help Buriram United beat Muangthong United 2-0 in the Kor Royal Cup Final
Any spectators arriving late to the stadium would have missed a frantic first five minutes with Muangthong coming close twice before Buriram opened the scoring in the fifth minute. Teerasil lost his marker from a floated Pichitpong free kick but his header was centimeters wide, while Djurovski beat the offside trap before firing his angled shot into the midriff of Siwarak as the TPL champs opened brightly.
With the next attack, it was debutant Ramses Bustos who opened the scoring. A innocuous long ball into the Muangthong box caused alarm as the defence failed to clear it. The ball eventually landed at Bustos who flicked it up with his left foot, just like a tennis player would with a serve, before twisting and smashing it into the net with the same foot.
After the initial excitement, the game slowed down with the Korean referee issuing a sprinkling of yellow cards as the game was peppered with niggly fouls.
Five minutes before the break, Muangthong had a great chance to level when Linz broke through on goal but his weak shot was saved by Siwarak.
In injury time, Anawin’s dipping drive was tipped over by Weera as the FA Cup holders went into the interval 1-0 up.
The game took a twist on the hour when Mongkol was given a second yellow card for blocking the ball with his arm on the halfway line. It was a silly foul to concede and the Korean official called it correctly by giving the former Thai Port man a second yellow.
As a result of being a player down, Muangthong were exposed at the back and should have been two down when Bustos rounded Weera on 69 minutes. The angle just wasn’t right for the Chilean and his shot hit the woodwork with the empty net beckoning.
Five minutes later, Buriram had a goal chalked off after Theeratorn was adjudged to have been offside when he rolled home a square pass from Bustos.
The clincher came on 83 minutes when substitute Anthony set up and unmarked Bustos who controlled and side footed home with his left foot.
It was a deserved win for Buriram as Suchao lifted the cup in front of the watching GU12.
On the evidence of the final, Buriram’s new signings certainly played better than their opponent’s ones. Bustos will obviously take the plaudits yet Chappuis sits nicely in front of the back 4 and Carmelo Gonzalez had a promising debut.
Muangthong looked devoid of ideas upfront and the system to accommodate Linz didn’t work. At the back, they defended far to high up the park and were caught out several times as Buriram broke their back line on far too many occasions.
Man of the Match: Ramses Bustos – Lively debut with two goals
So whats wrong with that Wolfman, yes i got this from another page.Anyone knowing Albert would know ........the punctuation was far toooooooooooo good

Jonesey, I know you are not a numb nut, so I can only assume you missed this report:- ;)
Asked about Atthaphol's claim that he interfered in his job, Newin was forthright about his influence.
"It is I who select the line-ups and make changes during games," he said. "I am head of the head coach, who is just my assistant."
Buriram defender Teerathorn Bunmathan admitted he was one of the players who urged Newin to change coach. He claimed several players, including Spaniard Osmar Ibanez, did not like Atthaphol.
"The players know it is the chairman [Newin] who selects the line-ups and tactics," he said.
"Coach Taek [Atthaphol] did not talk or give advice to the players after a training session."
CoCo is quite correct ,only stating what we already knowI wonder who 'picked' yesterdays team?I would assume as acting stand in coach Scott Cooper picked the team, who else would have that responsibility. buriram_united

Fifa warns Thailand of possible international ban

FAT president Worawi Makudi has rescheduled elections for a new chief
The world's football governing body has reprimanded the Football Association of Thailand and cautioned them to settle their legal issues by June 24 in order to avoid sanctions
Fifa has reacted to the Football Association of Thailand’s (FAT) postponement of the elections for a new chief, which were scheduled to be held on June 16.
The world’s governing football body sent an official warning letter the following morning after Worawi Makudi, president of the FAT, was forced to reschedule the elections due to a court injunction from the Min Buri Court in Bangkok.
However, as Fifa rules do not allow for civil courts to get involved in the administration of national football bodies, Thailand may possibly face an international ban if the impending lawsuit is not dropped by Monday, June 24.
Fifa’s deputy secretary-general Markus Kattner warned in the letter the FAT of the consequences should they not comply with Fifa's requests.
"Please take note that should the club's action (lawsuit) not to be withdrawn by 24 June 2013, the matter will be referred to the Fifa Emergency Committee to take appropriate measures against the FAT," Kattner said.
"such a suspension would mean that the FAT would lose all its membership rights... as well as prevent all Thailand teams (national or club) from having international contact and participating in Fifa and AFC competitions.
“It would also mean that neither FAT nor its members or officials could benefit from any Fifa or AFC development programme, course, or training during the term of the suspension.”
Fifa also reminded FAT that they are only allowed to hold the elections after adopting the revised FAT statutes. Furthermore, this has to take place no later than September 30 this year.
"Failure to respect this decision would again mean the matter would be referred to the competent Fifa body to take appropriate measures," cautioned Kattner.
Domestic teams that are potentially threatened should the ban be imposed include Buriram United, who are into the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League.

Maybe more to this than meets the eye........Very sad news Starman but i don't think Buriram United should suffer because of some deadbeat from Pattaya.
The petition to delay the vote was brought on by Pattaya United.
Who is Pattaya United Chairman????? Sontaya Kunplome.
He was a cabinet Minister under the Taksin government. He was banned from politics for 5 years.
He joined the BhumjaiThai party (Newin). He left in 2011 to found the Phalang Chon Party, which is now part of the coalition Government under Yingluk.
His wife is the current Culture Minister.
A bit of political needle maybe??????????????????????????????????////
Agreed, but the needle may stretch further. It's a sad state of affairs when politicians try and get involved with football matters, just so they can try and screw up someone else because they are jealous of Buriram United and what Newin has achieved.
The only province in the whole of Thailand where Phalang "Chon" party hold any seats, and indeed a strong hold is Chonburi. Maybe there are some others involved as well. If so then they can hardly be called deadbeats.
The only thing is that, under FIFA rules, Governments are not allowed to interfere with football matters.
RIP AntonioDo you honestly think that i am a Real Important Person
::) "Why Always Me?" , eh Antonio?Looking forward to visiting Iran with the best club in Thailand.
The legal action has nothing to do with derailing Buriram's ACL campaign. As well as Buriram being kicked out of the ACL, other consequences include European clubs cancelling pre-season tours, Thai clubs (not just /Buriram) being unable to take part in future ACL/AFC competitions, and national sides being unable to take part in SEA Games, Asian Cup or World Cup matches. Try reading DimpleJoe's post again; Buriram are a mere footnote at the end of a much bigger issue.
Pattaya FC (NOT Pattaya Utd) are trying to keep FAT president Worawi Makudi from reducing the number of clubs eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election. They are trying to keep their right (and that of most clubs below Division 1) to vote.
Even Newin supports this http://sport.mthai.com/football-thai/162269.html "Country must come before club". In another interview he points out that FIFA haven't banned Indonesia, despite the mess their FA is in. I wonder if he thinks FIFA won't go through with it.
On a related note, Newin & Wittaya Kunplome (Chonburi chairman & Sontaya's brother) are jointly backing FAT Presidential candidate Wirat Chanpanit
It must be nice to be such a 'dreamer'!RIP AntonioDo you honestly think that i am a Real Important Person
Thanks Nookie.

Buriram have won their last 5 games on the trot.
They are 4 points in the lead with a game in hand.
Buriram are the only team in the league that haven't lost a game.
They have scored 42 goals out of 15 games which gives them an average of 2.8 per game.
They have a goal difference of +29 as opposed to their nearest rivals Muangthong who have a goal difference of +13.
They are in the Quarter Final of the Champions league, they are in the Quarter Final of the Toyota cup.
Don't need to mention the F.A.Cup because it's only 3rd round at the moment.
So if you have any problems with the snake lines i hope this has cleared it up. buriram_united

And we would like to ask Buriram United fans to share only appropriate comments not insulting comment to their nation, religion and belief. Because that can break the relationship between Thai and Iran.
For your consideration,

Rene Desaeyere appointed head coach of Muang Thong United for a second time after 2010."There were some problems that prevented us from bringing him back in the past," Ronnarit said about Rene.buriram_united buriram_united buriram_united
It leaves us with the question mark, why Muang Thong have sacked him after winning the TPL in 2011? We remeber the saying was (in 2011), Muang Thong wanted to hire a coach which can bring the club to the next level. hmm.

Court in Ubon Ratchathani finally repealed Esan United's objection and Sisaket FC now would have the right to continue his TPL campaign. However, the TPL Ltd needs to see the verdict in detail before making any comment and a decision on how to continue with the league.Keep your ears & eyes open CoCo!

It's a joke of a club and cooper wasn't the coach.. He didn't pick the team or make the decision on anything that happened on the field..stop being a pussy cooper and just tell everyone that newin is a tosser..

I wouldn't have put it quite like that, but it does seem that the owner is getting through a lot of staff. I hope not, but it is inevitable that eventually people will start turning his employment offers down. That would be very sad and detrimental to the club.

Just take a look at the e.p.l. and other leagues. I don't think it's that unusual.
When was the last time the Glaziers over ruled Fergie about the ManU team? When was the last time any chairperson over ruled the Coach?
The last one that tried it was Abramovich. Look what has happened there. A complete turnaround.
It is all well and good listing achievements, but at the end of the day you must look at what else could be achieved. I was hoping that the amount of funding in the Thai premier league would increase the standard of Thai football. Sadly not.
There is now a boring "scottish" or "spanish" scenario where only two teams can ever win. The only difference is that Spanish football is good to watch. For that matter so is Scottish football when you compare to Thai.

Why did David Bak ham leave Man U? Fergie?
Thai Premier League was introduced in 1996, ( previously Kor Royal Cup ) by the Football Association of Thailand (FAT).
I think a little more time will tell. The history of a professional football league in the u.k. had a slight head start. ( founded 1888)
When people talk about football they inevitably mention achievments. ( At the end of the day that's the whole point. Winning.)
How many times have Scottish and Thai football teams played together? I don't know. Bad comparison.Maybe Thai teams are better.
But as sure as ไข่ 's is ไข่ 's , I'd rather watch Thai football , either live at the stadium or on T.V.

As you probably know, Candy, seeing as you seem to spend your time cutting and pasting, the world rankings are calculated by recent records of victories, losses and draws in the teams' own domestic leagues.
So it seems that Celtic have achieved their ranking by playing teams ranked no lower that St Mirrren at 1281. Where as Buriram have achieved a much lower ranking by playing teams who are much lower in the rankings than that.
Don't you just love it ....... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Also you mentioned before that the Thai Premier league was founded in 1998. Buriram Utd were founded, or at least the club that Buriram became were, in 1970.
If you are to make comparisons you really should get things right. It appears that there was a football league apparent in Thailand long before you stated.

This is interesting as Simpson will give us something of a guide as to the quality of the TPL.
I enjoy watch TPL, especially when Buriram United win!! But I have always wondered where Buriram would compete if transferred to England. If Simpson
knocks in 3 goals per game, then we will know that the standard is not very high as he has not really pulled up trees in UK (though he is only 24). I know some
take offence to comments like this, and I am not in anyway dissing Buriram United, just curious.
The conditions in Thailand are of course much different to UK and I would expect Simpson to take time to adjust. buriram_united buriram_united

Hey Kevin. Don't you think you should be up-dating the w.site? cool1
Maybe even mention what happened at Tammasat on the 25th.
I would appeal the 20k for setting fire to the cardboard logo because they made such a piss-poor job of it !!
Have 3 more TPL league matchs left to play (2 at home 1 away) and they need to get 6 points to WIN the League, that is assuming that Muang Thong win there last 3 games.
In addition to this buriram_united are in two cup finals they play Bangkok Glass in the Thai FA Cup and in the Toyota League Cup they play Ratchaburi.
buriram_united ONLY 2 Domestic trophys lost during the last 3 seasons takes some doing in any league.Out of those 3 trophies only one (T.P.L. 2012 ) had any importance attached to it.
