Title: Water Jugs / Water Cooler ?
Post by: PolarAttack on May 13, 2019, 07:23:25 AM
As I am in a temporary home, at this time I don?t want to install a water filter purification device, however id like to get a water stand/cooler/dispenser that uses the big jugs.
I?m from Canada and there if we purchase water from one company they will deliver the water as well as a cooler/heater stand that the jugs fit on top of.  Currently we are refilling disposable 1l bottles in what seems to be an old phone booth.
What are my other options?  I have seen those stands for sale at HomePro - who delivers water?

Thanks,
Wayne

Personally I don't like filling those bottles from those "old phone booths" as you never know how clean the water is. When was the last time they cleaned the filters ?? You don't know.

In our village there are 3 different companies that deliver water and they all come from different villages / companies. They will not travel far, so your best bet is to ask around in your local area as there must be a company delivering the water.

Sorry that I am this vague, but those companies are AFAIK local !

Mike is correct. All the villages will have water delivery options. As he says, ask around or keep your eyes open for the truck to pass and wave them down. It is unlikely that there will be any price difference between companies.
I rarely see coolers on these trucks. Think best to buy the one you like in Homepro and then just get the water delivered.

Thanks everyone for the quick reply?s. Right now my notifications are still going to my junk mail. I need to work on that.
I guess the village I?m in is Meung Buriram. The city part.
Near Amazon coffee  - okay,  that was just to make me laugh.
If anyone else has other suggestions I?m listening - and thanks to all.

Look for someone who has those 20 Liter Water Bottles as the water delivery guy usually brings those around

Sample: https://images.app.goo.gl/TrqtwCKKNd78pF5Y7

And then talk to the owner of the house where they get their water from !

Alternatives: Makro / Big C / Lotus but have never seen the 20 Liter water bottles there, max size I believe they have is 5 Liters (40 THB).

SIL (in our village) buys her water from those trucks (the 20 liter ones) and she pays 10 THB per Bottle.

Yes, iammike.
Exactly what I am looking for. Perfect.
So if anyone delivers or has any leads, I?m interested.

Thanks all,
Wayne

I find the use of acronyms and abreviations somewhat low end proper English conversation.  I will probably not read the posts when I find this jive lazy talk put to print.

Immigration also likes to use a lot of abbreviations

Tm 7, Tm 30, Kr 2, Kr 3 etc etc etc

If you look probably most village stores sell the 5 gallon water jugs in the white plastic.  Used to cost 80 baht for the jug then 15 baht when you exchange for fresh water.

When we used the white plastic jugs and refilled them with our filter after a while they start to get green spots.  We'd just got to a store and exchange them.

Hi Bob,
I thought I answered your riddle in the previous post. She is my girlfriend, we met in Canada and started dating 5 years ago.  We have both been married/divorced many years ago.  Getting married is not on our radar.  She sold her house in Canada to build one here. I still have my house in Canada. I refer the the home here as hers. Although for convenience I have sometimes said - our place. If you want to follow along we have a YouTube channel PolarAttack or just click on the 🌏 to the left under my name.
Thanks  loco

If there are only 2 of you, I wouldn't bother with a cooler.

We have a frame that the bottle goes into, just like the one in the link. We fill smaller bottles and put in the fridge or freezer. The large bottle is also then easily used to get fresh water for cooking.

Thanks Bob.  If you like RVs (sorry, recreational vehicles).  We spent about six months last year living in one while travelling around the lower U.S. (United States) and then up to Alaska.

Thanks Starman,
That works as well.   I actually think I have seen a guy selling those out of the back of his pick up truck on the side of the road.  At home in Vancouver Canada generally the coolers are free to use as long as you buy their water - that they deliver.  That is the only reason I was inquiring to that. The frame will work well I am sure.
It there a 20 L bottle exchange program?  Does somebody deliver those to you?   I?m just trying to avoid those fill it yourself booths at the side of the road.
Thanks for your time,
Wayne

Yes. There is an exchange. As @Urleft already said. The first time you buy expect to pay in the region of 100 baht a bottle. Good idea to buy, maybe, 5 so you can keep a stock. After that you can exchange empties for full ones for about 12-15 baht.
