buyer beware, I did order garden soil a couple of months ago, it came in a truck, dumped it in the yard, was full of rocks and I mean FULL of rocks, ordered him to get a backhoe and put it back into his truck and cart it off the premises, load rejected. No money changed hands.

It Depends.  However, several years ago we got a super deal @170 baht a load as the dirt was coming from a rice field almost next to us, took 700 loads.  But otherwise it was around 250 a load, but again that was several years ago.

So if there are rice fields near, you might be able to work a win win where the rice field is deepened and you get cheap dirt.  Also we had done a lot of business with the trucks owner so he cut us a deal.
