Havn't used them for a while but there was a good agent on the road into town (Surin) past the county court and temple  on the same side of the road (left) before the big x roads where you turn right to the private hospital, left to Surin plaza or straight on to bus station.

I went to book my airfares to Australia, yesterday with Muk.  Hassel free and very quick and professional service.  I would recommend her.
Regards

Was it an EVA flight ?

No Starman, it was a Qantas flight.

Yes a Qantas Flight flown using  codeshare metal. Probably British Airways. Qantas doesn't fly that air route anymore.

Everyone has their favourite sites with booking a flight on a plane... I can't go past Skyscanner for best deals.... https://www.skyscanner.com.au/    have never been disappointed..

Skyscanner is a good, first point of reference. When you have decided on  your flight you can then go direct to the airline website.

I saved a bit on my Emirates flights doing that.

At the moment Netflights are good because I can pay in Sterling and avoid conversion at under 46.

On the internet side there is a site call Passport Premiere where you are supposed to get the best discount rates on business or first (being over 60 I avoid flying cattle).

http://passportpremiere.com/

Some really good deals are mentioned.  What I have found was that it was near impossible to get the special rate, and that I could actually do better direct with airline then using premiere.

I've never used Mongkhonthit so I can't really comment on their services, however I agree with fishy about Skyscanner.

Skyscanner is just a host website displaying various fares from 3rd party booking agencies, which you can click onto.

For me, perhaps it's a little easier, as I always fly Thai Airways, for the convenience of a non stop, full service flight. So I'm just looking for the best fare within Thai Airways, not searching various airlines, flight schedules etc.

I differ a little from Starman, as I always go to Thai Airways first to get their best price on my selected flight, then I'll go into Skyscanner to find a better deal.

Last time I flew to Oz, I booked a Skyscanner link ticket that was 27% cheaper than TA's cheapest advertised fare.

That's a big big saving.

I was deeply suspicious about someone offering such a discounted fare, but after much online researching I'd convinced myself that the Skyscanner link looked legit, so I jumped off the deep end and paid.

Within 10mins of paying online, my booking showed up as a fully paid confirmed ticket on Thai Airways official site. Full access to my booking, same as if I'd booked direct with Thai. (meals, seat allocation, checkin preference etc etc)

That was a big relief, and I felt pretty cocky. Bit naughty of Thai Airways though not to advertise this same really cheap available fare on their own website.

Was very good service, and I've no hesitation in using this particular Skyscanner link again. (Bestjet in Brisbane)

I wouldn't touch Thai Airways with a barge pole!

They are overpriced and service is not a patch on what it was 10 years ago.

I've read many similiar reviews to your thoughts Ray. For me though, Thai is fine. I've yet to have a disappointing flight.

1 - They are the only airline that offer a non stop BKK to Perth flight, so that's the biggest plus for me. Only 6.5hrs in the air.

2 - 11.59pm ex BKK    7.40am arr into Perth  .................... 9am ex Perth   2.45pm arr BKK
Only 1 flight each day, but the above timings are absolutely perfect for me.

3 - The fares are always extremely competitive with other full service airlines. Very often, Thai is the cheapest by a considerable margin.

4 - Sure, I can fly 25% cheaper (once all the "addons" are included) with Jetstar, Air Asia, Scoot etc .... but I'm really tall, as you know, and I quite literally can't fit into the budget seats. Jetstar even had non reclining seats on two flights ! Never ever again !!

5 - Always found the ground staff very friendly and helpful, both in BKK and Perth. In flight service has always been very acceptable, without being outstanding. I'm ok with that. Food is beaut. New Dreamliner aircraft, 30kg luggage for economy class.

I have to agree with Smooth. I've used Thai Airways to and from the UK 11 times in the past 4 years. Direct flight, excellent service, good food, new aircraft and cheapest direct flights I have found (with the exception of Eva). On one occasion (last year) I gave British Airways a try and they were crap compared to Thai.
In the last couple of years Thai have cut there prices.
I haven't tried Sky Scanner. I usually book direct with airline. I'll check that out next time I'm booking.

Good reasons not to change there Smooth.

Perth only 6.5 hours away...... interesting.

My experience with Thai has been the opposite of Freddy. I used Thai several times around 2007/8 but soon switched to EVA. More recently I have moved to BA on price. 7/8 flights have been very good, the other had poor service but no worse than my last flight with Thai.

Things change and I am happy to reconsider Thai, BUT by way of example they are over 22,000 Baht more expensive than BA for flights for 2 next March.

Things certainly can change very quickly in the airline business. I used to rate BA and used to use them regularly flying between the UK and USA. A lot depends on what aircraft is utilised on what route. I flew BA from BKK to LHR last September. The aircraft was old, and the flight was 1 hour longer each way than with Thai. Initially I thought it was the routing however it turned out to be the aircraft. 34,000 ft was its max cruising height, hence the additional hour. It did have rear of seat entertainment but the screens were tiny and very scratched. As I say, just an old aircraft on that route.
Price then was identical to that of Thai.
BA do of course have many new and very large aircraft. Hopefully you'll get one when you fly next year.

Thanks Freddy - useful information.

I hadn't picked up the time difference in the flights - I will check more closely for March.

Co-Co........this is from memory but I think Thai publish LHR to BKK @ 10hrs 40 mins and BKK to LHR @ 11hrs 35 mins. Xtra on the UK leg is due approach route at LHR and prevailing head wind.

BA published 13hrs and 10 mins BKK to LHR and 12Hrs 25mins returning here.

I only discovered the additional flight duration after I had booked and paid but had I checked it out prior I wouldn't have booked with them. I gave BA a try purely because I hadn't flown with them for a while.

If there prices are currently good and the demand is there they may well be using a larger and more modern aircraft now. We travelled in September so most fleets are pretty stretched at that time of year. March will be winter scheduling so more aircraft options available.

BA have been utilizing 777-200's on this route since they stopped flying on to Oz.33,000ft is the most fuel efficient flight level but the 777 has a flight ceiling around 43,000ft!

why does it matter how old the aircraft is I would have thought it depends on who has maintained it that matters

I do have a general rule not touch anything that Nookie might have his hands around.............. so BA becomes a tough call  jumping8

Whilst waiting for my afternoon massage I have been doing some research for my flights next year:-

THAI   83,870 Baht for 2 tickets BKK - London Heathrow and return. Flight times 12.05 hrs and 11.15hrs

BA 62,680 Baht  12.45 hrs and 11.35 hrs

BA booking through Netflights GBP 1,350 (= ex rate 46.4)

EVA  51,170 Baht 12.35 hrs and 11.30 hrs.

If I wanted to save a tad with a Middle Eastern hop:-

OMAN GBP 531, Emirates GBP 570 and Etihad GBP 580.

I have to say that EVA wins hands down for me. Now................. if only the rate was GBP?THB 52 again  thumbup

Apologies for monopolising this thread but the following is also something I appear to have missed re baggage allowance on EVA:-

Adjustments of Free Baggage Allowance for Europe FlightsApplicable Conditions and Routes   Class   Before Adjustment   After Adjustment

Ticketing in Europe and departing from Europe.
Ticketing in Thailand and departing from Thailand for Europe.

   Business/Premium Laurel/Royal Laurel   30kg (66lb)   40kg(88lb)
Elite   25kg (55lb)   35kg(77lb)
Economy   20kg (44lb)   30kg(66lb)

The adjustments apply to the flights that BR operates, or BR is of operating carrier for the longest sector in interline journey. The IATA Resolution 302 related to baggage provision should be complied with when itinerary involves interline.
All pieces of baggage in excess of 32 kg (70 lb) must be repacked to prevent injury to baggage handlers. The weight limit restriction refers to a single item and will not affect the baggage allowance or excess baggage fee of your trip.

Agree a good point re: safety. As Co co says, it's the comfort factor + the entertainment systems. The newer aircraft have the bigger screens, and improved inter- activity. After being used to this it was noticeable how dated the system on the older aircraft was.

Also things like sound insulation and just the rattles from the plastic fittings throughout the aircraft.
