Hello everyone,
I arrived in Surin back in 2004 and I have been an active member on Surinfarang.com for the past 6 years. Many of you on this forum will recognise my tag - nomad97 - and some of you will know me personally too. I also contribute from time to time on Thaivisa.com. I am retired and married with two young daughters, one aged 9 and the other 5 years old. Both daughters were born in Surin. I have had a quick peek at your forum from time to time although I have not joined in before. I thought it was about time to rectify that, spread my wings and come and join you. I look forward to getting to know you as time goes by.

Welcome onboard nomad97.

Welcome Nomad, I hope you fare better here than on SF. Hope to see you next month at TamTam for an expat meeting together with the Prakhonchai Twins.

Welcome Steve. DOH!
That's buggered your anonymity :)
Does Top Tees have a sale at the moment ..... just thinking of the timing of the Tam Tam visit.

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome to the forum. How I have kept away from this forum for so long beats me. Thanks CO-CO, if I had wanted anonymity I would have changed my tag and not used nomad97. I have nothing to hide and just felt is was necessary to take a break from Surinfarang.com. I look forward to be part of this forum and joining in wherever possible. And, as Dundeemk has asked, I will not be going to Tam Tam in February.

Hi & welcome Nomad ... sorry to briefly hijack your thread.
What's a Tam Tam ?

Tam Tam is a new pizza restaurant that has just opened in Surin.

Welcome Nomad to BE!

Welcome. Do you like pork ribs?
Are you an Aussie or Brit? About the same same to us Americans, except Aussies are more easily tolerated.
You called me out on the Retirement Dummies thread and my response is" Do you have photo? No, I am not challangeing you, I am just trying to gather the correct information. Based on your post that UK Embassy imprints (basically the same as the US), a US Embassy income statement may also need Bank verification. Which is different than 2 of my pervious extensions.
Glad to have your imput.

Hello urleft,
I will have to put my hand up and say I am English. I will also add something to my earlier statement on the visa extension. A friend of mine extended his visa today, he's a Brit too, and he had this to say:
I went today for my annual retirement extension. They want to see evidence that you have money coming into Thailand on a regular basis and that you are spending it, irrespective of whether you have an Embassy proof of pension income letter or 800k in an account.
Whilst my wife and I were being attended to by the Immigration Officer (and I can recommend taking your wife, if you have one!) I overheard another English chap being sent away. He had an Embassy letter but no back up. The officers were saying, you need a bank statement, how about ATM slips? etc. He had nothing and they sent him away.
So the moral of this story is, whether you are based on Embassy declaration of pension income or 800k in the bank, take evidence that you have funds arriving from overseas and are spending them here.
Immigration have now changed the rules - this is the new requirement regardless of which method you use.

Thanks,
I'm going for my retirement extension next month and will make sure I take proof.
