Title: New motorcycle tyres.
Post by: mahdam on November 03, 2018, 10:47:07 PM
I need a couple of new tyres on my little Kawasaki trail bike.
Has anyone any recommendations on a reliable m/cycle tyre dealer to get this done?

RK Superbike do a very good job with tyre changes. They have ALL of the proper gear including a wheel balance machine.

I have used them once already, and will be back there for new "shoes" after this riding season.

Fair price for a good job.

They have a good range and may even have you size tyres in stock (?)

Thank you. I know where you mean, and will give them a go.

I ordered Michelin tires from Lazada, they really worked well that I will continue to do so.  Easy to find a village scooter shop to mount them.

It would be interesting to know the price you paid. There are many copies on Lazada when it comes to tyres. I looked and the tyres I wanted were more than 60% cheaper on Lazada. That speaks a thousand words. I left well alone and bought locally, at the store mentioned above. Should have seen his face when I mentioned Lazada for tyres.

Have to agree on that. Lazada great for some things but when it comes to bike tyres I'd steer well clear. If the price is to good to be true, then it probably is.

Have been told good things about this shop. I'm considering having them fit an X-Pipe to my bike. Either there or the guy who specialises in Harley's who is also apparently very good.

I've just noticed you are talking about a Fino. The OP, and subsequent replies, are referring to bigger bikes. Not the sort of bikes that have tyres that a "village scooter shop" can fit.

When the op says " little Kawasaki trail bike"  I would put that near Fino size, am not sure how you get "bigger bike" out of the word "little".

Because I know what type of bike he is referring to and the style of tyre.

To avoid any confusion, the tyre sizes I will need are.
Front 70/100-19
Rear  90/100-16

That sounds about right. I remember you saying you had a 150 KLX.

I guess after your previous post about the Kawasaki dealer in Buriram, you have ruled them out for tyres???

No can't see me going back to them for anything, after them telling me that tightening the chain would stop the slight missfire I was getting at some speeds!

Hi Mahdam
A couple of my mates have the same bike.
They get their tyres from the town bike shops not the village ones if they want it quick because you have to wait a couple of days whilst they will source from Kawasaki.
Bite the bullet and buy the tyres at Kawasaki ,just dont fit them there.
RK are very good with the larger capacity machines but fitting and balancing your spoked wheels with with rim weights nope nope nope, your local boy can fit and balance cheaper and quicker,or get on youtube and learn yourself as i did.
The wife now hides her spoons.

Thank you for the reality check Kawa.  That is what I will do, buy tyres from a dealer and fit them myself, it's not exactly rocket science.
I have just recently fitted two similar sized tyres to a little Austin Seven I have here in the Uk.

Hi Mahdam
I learnt when i was off sick and couldnt ride my bike.
Bought some fancy rims then the hubs and sprokets then the spokes from Dirtshop BKK
Had to send the sokes back coz too long, then relised i needed more tools ,so got the wheel stand that is needed to ?true the rim? ,and a spoke spanner.
A nice bit of Motorcycle zen ,coz you cant rush it.
But yeah if you have time and have the tools you?ll get a certain self satisfaction when finished.

Dont forget to put a cut piece of hose pipe on the rim for the tyre change, stops your rims from getting scratched up,tell the thais that also if you go the local way.

Not trying to teach you how to suck eggs an all party4

Thank's again for a good tip. Never thought of that, and always happy to learn.
