Title: Cost of land near new Robinson mall
Post by: DeputyDavid on July 22, 2014, 04:52:49 AM
I don't understand.  People are asking extremely high prices for small plots of land because of the new mall.  1/4 rai someone is asking 4 million baht.  A small but nice house on one rai is 4.5 million baht.  I understand asking vs getting, but when asking leaves you laughing and shaking your head, it is just unreal.  I would like to find about one rai within 5 km of Buriram, to build some small apartments on when I retire, but at these rates I will need to live to over 130 in order to break even.  Crazy and frustrating.

DD,

There's about a rai for sale near me for 620K baht, in a 12,000 person village.  I live 5 KM north of the Thep Nakorn Hotel.

If you go here you can see the map of the village:  http://www.buriramexpats.com/forum/index.php/topic,7612.0.html

Several hotels that are first class by Thai standards and generally half empty. BigC, Makro and soon Robinsons in the same corner. Home Mart, Homepro, Thaiwatsadu, IQ store, with Global House on its way. In the same area. Several building projects with tiny houses going for 3 - 4 million Baht in this area.
Not to mention what is going on elsewhere in Buriram.
Remind me again, what are the first signs of a financial bubble?

Well Cooked I don't think you need reminding about a financial bubble. The Thai's certainly shouldn't after '97 or'98,but they are apparently thinking of free floating the Baht again as they did in '97......If they do that now it would be as bad as '97 IMHO.
Then again it could just be that Buriram is booming and may continue to do so??

i tdepends very much where exactly you want land. Go in the road next to the Robinson is , i  have land and there it is roughly 3-4 mln a rai.  a little further inside where the riceland is you can find it for 1 mln a rai. These are very rough estimates. But 4 mln for 1 ngaan is insane unless it is situated right along the main entrance road into Buriram.   My kand is 3 ngaan and estimated at 2.5 mln

I thought I read Robinsons foundation was sinking or sliding or something.  Has anyone seen whether or not they are continuing with the store?
