Big Bike Gear
« on: September 25, 2018, 10:30:39 PM »
Big Bike Riders.
Guys,  anywhere in Buriram have a decent selection of Summer Mesh motorcycle jackets with elbow, shoulder, back pads. Appreciate mesh jackets don't offer the best protection but leather is just to hot.

I know many people like to have a "recognized brand" jacket / gloves etc etc .... but I rate the Komine jackets.

I have used my jk006 for the last 2 riding "seasons". Probably more than 25K Kl. You will get wet in a downpour due to the mesh, but they do dry out quite quickly.

I have washed mine at least 6 times (take out the armor inserts first) in the washing machine. Comes out like new.

Touring season is just about to kick off again, and I will be using mine again for the third year.

Ordered one of Alpinestars by telephone in my homecountry....got a 21 % discount on the price , because of export rules. ( not having to pay VAT )..can do it online too and it got delivered at my home without any problems.....That is only possible if you know what size you want exactly..but hey great quality for years to come...price turned out lower that what i would've paid in Bangkok in a store...

No mate, not worried about branding at all. Just want something functional that gives a little protection, limited with mesh I know but something is better than nothing.m

Somnat. Checked out the Komine jackets on line. Lots of choice there both style and price range. Just worried about the sizing. I'm gonna hold till the Moto GP and hopefully they will have a stand there so I can try before I buy.
Found some decent boots at the Paddock in Bangkok. I bought my helmet from there. Been a challenge to find the casual style that look OK with jeans when not on the bike but hopefully they will fit when they arrive.
That just leaves gloves. Just want lightweight mesh and leather without all the fancy stripes and neon. Hard to find here.

These ones are still OK after 2 years - Scoyco MC24 - Available from "love big bike" for just 400 Baht.

https://www.lovebigbike.com/%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%84%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%B2/%E0%B8%96%E0%B8%B8%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%B7%E0%B8%AD-scoyco-mc24/

Lazada also have some that ship from overseas, but closer to 700 Baht

If I can find out where M Speed shop went I will let you know. He was stocking them last time I was in there.

Should think the Suzukis quite quick.
I've got a Honda Rebel 500 bit just treated myself to a Triumph. Can't decide if I should keep the rebel as a runaround or sell it,

That's a bargain Freddy. I am pretty sure I payed close to 3K for mine.

I really enjoyed my 500X but sometimes struggled to keep up with the "Big Boys" when on tour.

The V strom is more than adequate for the sort of riding we do.

Always had a soft spot for Triumphs. Which one did you get?

Same for me. Love the Rebel but just not quite enough.
Got the Bobber Black 1200. It's fantastic.
