Greetings!  party6

Looking for information  party12. Back in UK, and probably other parts of the world! There is/was a product called "hammerite".  love5 love5

A brilliant product which I used many many times. tired1
Over here in Sunny Thailand. cannot seem to find this product, so have done a little search, the closest thing I can find is a product called Rust-oleum.  Available in Thailand crazydance, but cannot find up here in the suburb of Satuek  punk

Has anyone come across this item in Buriram? oldmanwithstick If so where, Other wise I will have to order direct from Bangkok, Which is 596.10 Baht for a Quart including shipping. thought might be easier, running over to Buriram!

Thanks for any input.  redman

I have never seen either product in Buriram. Maybe a visit to Ruangsaengthai could be fruitful.

There are many Rustoleum products on Lazada.

To treat metal that is already rusted you might consider a TOA product widely available in Buriram Thailand. I stock the TOA Rust Tech for metal protection. It is a rust stopper and epoxy coating. Affordable and not imported. I took a photo of the label which might guide the OP.  Next Tuesday Jamie and the team of WestAir Air Compressors will return to Ruangsangthai with Australian designed air compressors. Thank you, Mr. Pichai.

Thanks for the reply Pichai, I have thought about that product. And still am, but being a lazy person. I just like to stick my brush into a pot/tin of paint and brush on, when it starts to get complicated with mixing things!  loco

I don't think the product requires mixing. Think picture is just showing two different tin sizes.

A new shipment of TOA wood stain and TOA two part Rust Tech to prevent corrosion on metal has arrived Thursday at Ruangsangthai in Buriram. The Rust Tech is a four to one mix with up to 10% thinner.  Local Thai workers even on a Buriram cattle ranch can scrape off rust and then paint this moderately priced TOA rust inhibitor. TOA paint on special order typically takes three days to arrive at our store. Order on a Monday and it arrives on Thursday.  Thank you, Mr. Pichai

Rust-Oleum paint is made under license in Thailand by Dyno paint. Japanese Beer brands are also made under license in Thailand by respective local beer breweries. If you require most any specific brand of home building product, and the order meets the minimum transportation quantity of the brand, my store staff will gladly place your pre paid order. One case of certain products, one truck load, one item it all depends on the home building fitting or paint you require for your house in Buriram. See Mr. Bob or Miss Jaew in the expats sales department of my family owned hardware store located in Buriram.  Sherwin Williams House paint is not often seen in Thailand. It was previously made under license in Thailand. Currently Sherwin Williams serves different OEM  markets in Thailand.

After 14 years my House is due for a repaint .  biggreen
I live in Northern Surin Province and have been going around the local Builders Merchants looking at Paint Prices.
Some of the big known brands were 2500-3000 Baht for a 5 US gallon bucket ( I think 20 litres ) .I know you only get what you pay for but I'm on Budget of sorts and don't really want to pay that much if can help it
One TOA merchant offered me SUPER MATEX in the colour of paint I was after and the cost was about 1200 baht for 5 US gallon
Has anyone used this SUPER MATEX brand before , I brought some cheap TEMCO paint for about 270 Baht before to do the kitchen and I ended up binning it and buying a BERGER which was 500 for 3.7 litres
If I buy the cheaper brand the saving will pay for the painters labour cost compared to the more expensive brands or is this just a "false economy " ???

All input would be welcomed :)

Hi Smithy,
Never used the TOA super Matex so unable to assist. I used the Dulux Weathershield which so far seems to be holding up very well after 3 years (not cheap though)
Probably suggesting the obvious but what was the house painted with originally. If it's lasted for 14 years in this climate then I'd be using the same brand again.
One to avoid from personal experience is 4 seasons. I know they do many different grades but the particular one I tried on one occasion was the worst paint I've ever experienced.

I use TOA before but the type I used must have been rebranded to a different name? . I guess I can always buy just one bucket of SUPER MATEX first ( Starman seems to think it's OK )  and get the painter to use it on the garden walls first to see how it is .
Also as the house hasn't been painted for a long time I guess it will need a sealer or an acrylic primer undercoat of some sort ? I remember when we first painted the garden walls the salts came out of the cement and turned them white in places.I had to seal them and repaint them.
I'm going to jet wash the garden Gardens walls over next few days as some area's that don't get much Sun  have algae on them . I  jet washed the inside garden walls about 6 months ago and they come up well but decided to wait for the dry season before I repainted  . The paint on walls that get's the sun and the House has held up really well over the years but now it the time for a complete repaint .

Just finished jet washing half the garden walls inside and out and will do the other half tomorrow after the next door neighbour has removed their plants away from the wall.

It's looking better already , Before and after shots below , all ready for the sealer before repainting

BTW..The TOA paint I used before was their top grade ( I guess Super Shield ) as it lasts as long as it says on their site ...nearly ) , I may say "fook the expense" and go for the better quality paint again. There's nothing like being indecisive  ::)

Personally I'd go for the best quality you can manage. Very much a false saving if it's looking rubbish after a couple of years.

In hindsight I think your right Freddy,I have 20k allocated for the job but was hoping to come under that .
You know what it's like ,you pay 3k+ for a bucket of paint and when the jobs finished someone say" I just had my house painted and I only paid 1500B and the paint was great" ::)

SuperMatex is a budget paint from TOA.  Certain home builders buy this paint and tell the client they use TOA paint. You can see how it rates on the TOA web site.
https://www.toagroup.com/en/product/Decorative-Coatings?subcate=Interior

or for exterior there are two pages of TOA products:

https://www.toagroup.com/en/product/decorative-coatings?subcate=Exterior

TOA paint, including SuperMatex has a higher margin than some other paint brands. Prices can easily vary from store to store. Check the date on any paint bucket in Thailand.  TOA paint trained the Nippon paint employee in my family owned store. If you check the paint buckets at Lively Homes or The Keen Condo in Buriram you can see what brand and grade paint professional builders buy from Ruangsangthai. Those projects come with a guarantee and premature paint failure would be costly for the property developer. Freddy is giving the Op valuable advise to consider the better grade of a major brand.
