Retirement without 800k
« on: June 06, 2017, 05:28:32 PM »
Hey guys

I heard that some people get their retirement visa without the 800k baht nor a proof of pension, but with the help of some 10 or 15k. ;)
Can anyone point me to such a helping hand?
I guess it cant be done here in the forum, so via PM or personally.
I would prefer not to have to go to Patty, btw.

Thanks for any helpful information
Bob

Bob,

Embassy verification of at least 65K baht a month, which for most of us requires a trip to the embassy.  However, I have heard of some embassies doing it by mail.

That being said, Buriram Immigration may also want to see your bank book with the intent to see you are actually spending money in Thailand.

There are guys floating along the edge of legality that will lend you the ฿800 000.- for three months for the sum of ฿15 - 20 000.- each time. A friend met one of these guys, also a Farang, but found that he was untrustworthy. I would stay well away from these people, and as mentioned by urleft, immigration may want to see what you are living from.

Immigration can look at my account, its moving more than 65 a month, thats not the problem ;)
Problem is, I dont get anything from my embassy, because swiss people need to be officially retired for that, and I am not.
And I dont like the idea of having 800000 in the bank here.
I'm not looking for a farang lending me the money.

Looks like I need to ask people while having a beer together

There are visa agents that do it, presumably via a contact in the immigration dept. I know a fella that was on retirement visa for 3 years, never showed proof of income and never had 800,000 funds in bank + never did 90 day report. I believe they charged him around 22,000 a year for the all in service.
What was interesting was that this year he did it himself. Turned up at Buriram Immigration with all paperwork etc and wasn't in the system. All stamps in passport correct however. They renewed anyway.
So beware, All can appear correctly done but not necessarily entered on immigration system. Don't forget, you only need to keep the 800,000 in the bank for 90 days. You can withdraw and use as monthly spend after visa issued so doesn't need to sit there all year.

You only need the 800k in the bank for 60 days on your initial application!

It is common practice to 'buy' a retirement extension for 11,000 - 14,000 Baht. There are hundreds using that method in Pattaya and through 'agents' in the provinces.

I know several people who comfortably meet the immigration requirements but just cannot be arsed to jump through hoops every year making an extension. They would rather pay the money and avoid some of the conflicts that have been reported on here.
