HELP BUILDING A WALL
« on: November 18, 2016, 10:20:31 PM »
Hello!  You guys on BE have been super helpful so thank you for that!  Does anyone know of or have used a company, etc. to build a wall around a property?

The prices my builder is quoting for a cinder block and composite wall around the 1 rai property in Buriram is crazy expensive.

Any pointers or referrals to a more reasonable wall-builder would be much appreciated.  I've attached the style my Mrs. is interested in but we are open to suggestions.

Thanks!

J.

Hi Hit,
Before when I was doing repairs ie reroofing I found a decent builder at a good price from the local hardware store. Other work I got my wife to find local farmers...As when they are not busy they are all builders of various quality.

Regarding labour price. We had a 1.8m high wall built all around our property. Poured steel reinforced columns at 3 meter intervals, double block build to 1m, poured steel reinforced beam at 1m then single block with a further steel reinforced beam to top it.
All then cement rendered. In total approx 200m of wall.
We used a local village builder and he charged 1,200 baht for every 3 section (9m).
He did a fantastic job and considering the amount of work involved I thought very reasonable.
Appreciate a different style of wall to your preference but should give you an idea of labour costs for the actual build aspect. May be worth looking at it in 2 stages I.e. Local builder to do the concrete and render work then deal direct with the company that makes the panels and have them come and fit them.

The OP will obtain written price quotes for various types of fences if he contacts the local office of http://www.fenzer.biz/    This firm manufactures, delivers and installs more than one type of fence. Retail shopping centers, large housing estates consider this type of firm or a local Buriram concrete firm for pre-cast fences. My family owned hardware stocks the metal for posts as in the OP photo and no shortage of Shera Board, Conwood, Diamond Wood fiber cement board or Thai Sun resin boards for innovative fences. Every building merchants will stock and deliver red bricks or grey blocks for traditional property fences.  The OP might consider seeing in person the types of property fences installed at Lively Home estate near the Robinson Lifestyle Shopping mall in Buriram.  Local Buriram labor have built that entire estate of materials sourced in Buriram.  KAP provided 100% of the concrete and my family owned store Ruangsangthai provided the majority of the building materials and home fixtures currently being installed at Lively Home Estate.  Cost and time to build with local labor, is a major consideration of the selection of fences and all materials at Lively Home.

I am looking for a crew to build about 75 meters of perimeter wall about 15km from Satuek.  Any suggestions?  I am looking for a price similar to what Freddy described above :)

Just a suggestion but may be wort having a look around your village/town area to see who has had a decent wall built and then asking who did it. Locals should be able to advise who does good work. Wall building isn't that complicated and you will no doubt need to use local building labour to get the sort of price I mentioned.

Have tried that route Freddy.  The locals want 1500 baht for every two linear meters for a wall that is 1.5m in height.  Seems a little high to me but maybe not?

Sent you a PM but probably not much help if you've gone that route.
I must admit, I was surprised at the amount I paid given the quantity of work involved. For local farm/building labour 1500baht for every 2m does seem high. Nearly double what I paid. No way would a Thai local be paying that. May be worth going back with a counter of 1500baht for every 3m. If it's just rendered block and concrete wall your after then columns at 3m is perfectly adequate.
