Department of Internal Trade of Buriram province has checked the stores selling ancestors worship items during Chinese New Year.

Mr.Jeerasak Sriphet , the Assistant Provincial Internal Trade of Buriram province together with the staffs were out to audited in Buriram municipal vegetable market in order to check out pork butchers, Distribution panel of poultry,seafood and vegetables to prevent the traders take advantage on the consumers and also to prevent opportunistic of price increases during Chinese New Year.

The review found that ducks, chickens and some fruits prices increased from the normal 10 to 20 baht which preliminary the officers of Internal Trade of Buriram province has warned the merchants to sell at fair prices and reiterated to show the prices tags on every product in a position that can be seen clearly.

Pig’s head (boar’s head) is expensive during Chinese New Year.

At Buriram Municipal Market. The atmosphere of shopping items in order to pay homage to ancestors (offerings to the spirit of their ancestors) during the Chinese New Year in this year is less energetic.

While the boar’s head which is the popular item that the Thai Chinese descent buy to pay homage to their ancestors price increased from original price of 50 baht per kilogram increased to 60 baht per kilogram.

The merchants claimed that the price of pork is more expensive therefore the pig’s head has to be adjusted to higher prices as well.

Chickens and Ducks prices raised by 20 Baht per kg.

The atmosphere at Buriram Municipal Market during Chinese New Year found that the price of poultry has increased by 20 baht per kilogram.

The original price of duck is 100 baht per kilogram has increased to 120 baht per kilogram.

The original price of chicken is 120 baht per kilogram has increased to 140 baht per kilogram.

The vendors claim that because the amount of people who are raising poultry has decreased created poultry shortage of supply therefore the wholesalers has increased the wholesale prices.

The price of vegetables such as kale, onion, cabbage and lettuce has no price increase.

Only the lemon price increased from original price of 1 Baht per one increased to be 3 baht per one.

Minister of Interior has distribute blankets to the winter victims in Buriram province.

Mr.Chaowarut Charnweerakul, the minister of Interior has brought 1,000 blankets to distribute to the elderly and paupers (impoverished persons) who are facing with shortage of winter clothes at Krasang district, Buriram province after the province has announced that all 23 districts are a winter disaster zones since last month.

A survey indicated that in Buriram province there are 300,000 people who are experiencing with winter clothes shortage that have not received an assistance yet.

People flock to buy cheap palm oil.

Internal Trade of Buriram province has brought palm oil to sell to the public infront of the Provincial Internal Trade Office in the selling price of 47 baht per bottle which according to the government it has defined which is cheaper than the market price.

*Market price is 50-60 Baht per bottle.

Palm oil price in the market increased continuously and insufficient to the needs of consumers and merchants who are selling cooked food.

Office of Public Health is warning people to beware of six diseases threats that come with winter.

The doctor of Buriram public health has alert the public to beware of 6 disease threats that come with winter which the most likely cause by a virus that like the cold weather:

1. Flu

2. Pneumonia

3. Measles

4. Rubella

5. Chickenpox

6. Diarrhea

Therefore the doctor is warning the people in all areas to take care their health by exercise regularly, eat foods with health benefits in order to prevent serious diseases.

Especially diseases related to the gastroenterology such as Diarrhea disease that is common disease during the cold weather.

Teacher take students to exercise by hula hoop dance .

At the school of Ban Yei Sakae at Sakae Sam subdistrict, Muang district, Buriram province the cold weather has been resulting students to be sick with respiratory disease and flu average of 3 to 4 cases each day.

Some students who had a high fever the school will allow to take sick leave until they recover from illness.

In addition, during this time the school also operate health care exercise program for children.

In the morning the teacher take students to exercise activity such as Hula Hoop dance, running around the fields in order to enhance student aptitude and health.

During study time the teachers also take students to study at the playground area to get exposure of the sunlight to relieve cold.

Education office of Buriram ordered to assist students who face with shortage of winter coats.

Mr.Narong Paewponsong (Director of Education Area of Buriram) has instructed the school administrators to accelerate exploration and check the amount of students who are from poor families, disadvantaged and face with shortage of winter clothes(clothing) especially the schools in remote areas in order to find a way to help after the temperatures has been lower and the weather is colder.

Latest temperatures was 11 to 12 degrees celsius.

Preliminary survey found that in more than 200 schools belong to the education area of Buriram province there are poor children up to 35,800 person from total of 58,000 person.

In addition, the director of education area of Buriram province has also ordered every school to hold a shift to maintain safety at school for 24 hours for surveillance and to prevent conflagration that may occur.

The sewing shops are busy during winter.

Second hand clothes are the best seller during this winter because the new clothes prices are more expensive which the price starting from 300-1,000 baht but the second hand clothes prices starting from 10-100 baht and the cost of repairing is 30-40 baht only.

The economy situation resulting the sewing shops to have more customers as many people bring their second hand clothes that they buy from Klong Thom market to be repaired.

This create income for the people who has a sewing occupation an average of 300-500 Baht per day (Usually their income is 200-300 baht per day).

The province governor accelerate solution for the drought problems.

Mr.Thanee Samartkit (the current Buriram province governor) have indicated that Buriram province is always facing with drought problem.

Many areas are experiencing water shortage on an annual basis.

The problem as above, the province will cooperate with every district and local government office of Buriram province to explore water resources to dredging canal for water storage for consumption and farming throughout the year.

If there is a shallow canal there will be dredging operations as well.

In addition, there will be survey to plan water supply system so that people could have water for consumption in all areas and houses.

Auto Check places has been ordered to install the standard testing machines.

The director of transportation of Buriram province has ordered to all the places of auto check service of private sector to install a testing machine and the facilities to inspect vehicles to meet the standard.

If any place of Auto check not install the equipments which defined by the Department of Transportation, the place will not be able to issue a certificate of a car inspection for the car owner to be the evidence to submit payment of the annual taxes(‘Pasi’).

In addition, the director of transportation office of Buriram has also indicated that the car that has been registered for 7 years up have to show a certificate of a car inspection in order to be able to pay the annual taxes.

700 people in Chum Het has recieved blankets.

The subdistrict administration organization of Chum Het subdistrict, Muang district, Buriram province has brought blankets to distribute to 700 people to alleviate the cold after the temperatures has been colder continuously which the latest the temperature was 15 degrees celsius.

The servey has found that there are 4,000 people of children, elderly, people with disabilities, Pauper (impoverished person) in Chum Het subdistrict are facing with shortage of winter clothes(clothing) but because the budget is not enough to provide the blankets for all 4,000 people therefore only 700 people have recieved the assistance.

However, the subdistrict administration organization of Chum Het subdistrict will ask for an additional budget from the Provincial Administration Organization in order to buy blankets to distribute to the people who have not received assistance.

The sales of lard increased after the vegetable oil more expensive and in short supply.

Palm oil and soybean oil in various department stores in Buriram province has raised the prices up over 60 baht per kilogram and this resulting in some department stores shortage in products.

This impact the operators of retail stores, groceries that purchased goods to sell and the merchants who are selling food that have to use oil for cooking.

In addition, the shortage in vegetable oil is resultiing increase in sales of lard by 70 percent more than before because the price is cheaper.

Lard price per kilogram is only 35 to 40 Baht.

Total patients with respiratory disease increased by 10 percent after the weather cooled down again.

Dr.Chalit Thongprayoon, the director of Buriram hospital have recently indicated that after the temperatures has been lower and the weather is colder, especially in the morning time have fog cover in many areas.

Recently the temperature dropped down in another 1 to 2 degrees celsius which results the public, especially children and the elderly who have a low immunity system to get illness with flu (influenza), pneumonia and diseases related to respiratory system been to the hospital for the treatment has increased by 10 percent from before that have 120 of patients per day.

According to the info from the weather forecast of Meteorological Department it was predicted that the temperatures will be lower and colder continuously and this year the weather will be cold for longer time than in the past.

Therefore the doctor ( director of Buriram hospital) is warning the public to maintain health by keeping the body warmth, exercise regularly, wear appropriate clothing and helpful eating.

Police arrested 14 people with 800 tablets of Ya Ba.

Police has arrested 4 drug dealers and 10 drug consumers and confiscated 800 tablets of Ya Ba, a short-barrel weapon, 4 cellphone (mobile phone) and drug consume equipments.

After the police had issued clearance drug monitoring in the various entertainment venue, rental houses and student dormitories.

Therefore the police charged the drug dealers with case of having drugs (amphetamines) in possession for distribution. The drug consumers have been charged with case of have illegal narcotics (amphetamines) for consumption.

Children Day in Buriram, Thailand.

Today in Buriram there was an activity at the public park, Rajabaht university and infront of Buriram bus station on Thani road.

Games for the kids, live music shows and an open market infront of the city hall which will be open 8-14 January 2011. (Between the elephant roundabout to the city hall roundabout).

Thailand National Children’s Day (Thai: วันเด็กแห่งชาติ) is celebrated on the second Saturday in January. Many organizations from both government and commercial sectors have celebration activities for children. Children can enter zoos or ride buses for free.

Many Government offices are open to children and their family, this includes the Government House, the Parliament House Complex and various Military installation. These events may include a guided tour and an exhibition.
A notable example is the guided tour at the Government House, where children have an opportunity to view the Prime Minister’s office and sit at the bureau. The Royal Thai Air Force usually invite children to go and explore the aircraft.

Buriram police has organized the National Children’s Day events.

Buirram police in conjunction with Administration Organization office of Porn Sumran subdistrict has organized the National Children’s Day event at playing field in front of Administration Organization office of Porn Sumran, Khu Muang district, Buriram province.

The atmosphere at the event was lively and fun with the stage performances, academic competition, games, food drinks snack banquet to the children. Which this events has held up to created fun for childrens and youths and to encourage to have an assertive in a creative way.

More than thousand students and disadvantaged children joined the National Children’s Day activities.

The municipal of Isaan subdistrict of Buriram province together with Government agencies and Private sector has organized the National Children’s Day event in front of municipal office of Isaan subdistrict with a various activities, games and performances of childrens. Giving gifts and food banquet to the children which created alot of fun for a childrens more than 1,000 person from 5 schools and disadvantaged children in the area joined the activities.

Summarizes of accidents of the seven dangerous days during New Year holidays.

Buriram province has summarizes accidents statistics of seven dangerous days during New Year holidays. A total is 70 road accidents happened, 6 people died and 80 people injured, 63 persons of males and 17 people of females. In this year the total deaths and injuries more than the past year.

The cause of accidents were accounted over 60 percent caused by a careless motorist (negligent driving/careless driving) / driving in a tight overtaking / overtaking in the restricted zone or overtaking in no passing zone.

For the wounded are mostly caused by Motorcyclists speed, not wearing a helmet or under the influence of alcohol.

The roads with most accidents is 80 percent on the Highways and 20 percent on Rural Roads.

From the data also showed that had an accident in 16 districts. The district that have the most accident happen is :

- Prakhon Chai district is total 12 accidents.

- Nang Rong district is total 8 accidents.

- Lamplaimat district is total 8 accidents.

- Lahan Sai district is total 7 accidents

- Khu Muang district is total 7 accidents.

9th Traditional folk sports competition of Buriram has been held up at Thepnakorn hotel.

Business hotel club has in conjunction with Tourism club has held the folk sports competition at the parking area of Thepnakorn hotel, Muang district, Buriram province. the competition held to connected the relationship and created the harmony and reduce conflict between the hotel business operators and also a relaxation for employees that tired from been working throughout the year. In addition, in order to preserve a traditional sporting event not to be lost as well.

The folk sports were in the competition are a sack race, sea boxing (Muay Talay ), tug of war, kick the buckets and hit the pots.

People are having cash problem after the celebrations of New Year holidays 2011.

Today is a first day opening of the pawnshop after closed for 4 days for a new year holidays. There are a number of people flock to pawn their personal properties at the pawnshop of Buriram municipal after finished New Year holidays. By the 90 % of pawning is Gold ornaments and another 10% is Electric equipment, Silk, etc.

The pawn brokers expecting that people will come to use their service at pawn shop approx 1,000 person a day from normally only 200-300 person a day. Anyhow, a pawn shop of Buriram municipal has prepared cash more than 30 million baht and the revolving money in stock which is more than 180 million baht in order to served to the people.

In addition also added credit on pledging gold from 14,500 baht to be 15,500 baht per one baht gold weight as well.

“Khao Kradong” mountain has been atmosphere bustling with people during new year holidays.

The atmosphere at Khao Kradong has been bustling with Tourists and buriram people over 3,000 people per day from normally 700-800 people per day from both in and outside the province flock to pay homage to “Phra Suphatthara Bophit” Buddha image on “Khao Kradong” mountain during New Year Festival to pray for the benediction for themselves and family.

In addition, the visitors also see the beautiful scenery on the mountain. “Khoa Kradong” mountain is an extinct volcano which climbs to a level of 265 meters above sea level and located 6 km’s from the town of Buriram on the Buriram – Prakhonchai Road.

Give alms to a Buddhist monk at Phanom Rung castle.

Public officials merchants approx 2,000 of people has joined the procession on foot up to the Phanom Rung castle to attended the ceremony to worship Lord Shiva and sacred item that dwell on the Phanom Rung Historical Park to pray for a fortune and prosperity for themselves and their families and also to revival the original tradition called ” Pra Pae Nee Burg Fa” which not held for over 100 year. In order to preserve cultural tradition and heritage and to promote tourism to bring income to Buriram province as well. A part of this ceremony is to give alms to the monk (give food offerings to a Buddhist monk) by people bring rice and dry food to give to the monks.
